My cousin has a problem with his Internet.

They reported it to Orange Broadband a 4/5 days ago and they advised that there was a line fault and that they would work on getting this sorted.

...However, they haven't come back to confirm it's sorted.

...Looking at the Router's connection Status (Netgear DG834GT) - It shows as 'connected'

...but the Internet is still not working...

So... is it possible to show as 'connected' - but still not have Internet etc..?

Thanks

At work we are having exactly the same problem, BT are about as much use as a chocolate teapot as usual.

It is quite possible that it is connected, but line noise etc is making it very unstable and un usable.

I have had a line that would sync, albeit at stupidly low speeds, but there was just too many errors and lost packets for it to actually work

Or just DNS isues which prevent you from finding / loading webpages but your internet connection is still up and running fine.

Yes you can be connected but not able to do anything this can be caused by issues within the BT network, or Orange's network.

Have you tried to do anything like run a couple iof ping tests on IP address and web addresses ?
