Is this Racism? I think so

I read this in the paper this morning and thought the same thing. If it had of been the other way around, there would have been all kinds of dung flying. I hope Joe whoops his butt!!

It is probably debateable if it would count as racism, I'd be rather more inclined to put it down to Hopkins acting like a tool with a load of braggadocio as boxers are often wont to do before a fight.

As a side note I gained a fair amount of respect for Kessler prior to his fight with Calzaghe for the way he conducted himself and his response to the loss. It is nice to see respect shown and reciprocated. :)

It's not racism per se - he hasn't made a racist statement in saying he "won't be beaten by a white man" - it's a statement of his intent not to lose to a white man - not a statement of the whole black race being superior to white.

Unfortunately, people are looking for any excuse to lead an uproar claiming reverse racism.

OK. If the shoe is on the other foot - "I won't be beaten by a black man" - then it suddenly becomes racist. You know it is true.

He is saying that he wouldn't ever lose to a white man. This means he thinks he is superior to the white race.

When we thought we were superior to the black race it was slavery and it was racist. It was also called "basmic" or something???

I would have thought everyone would have known by now that you can only be racist if your white  Get with the times eh?

Perhaps he has simply taken a look around the division he is in and has evaluated the contenders before coming to the conclusion that not one of the white guys is a threat to him?

I think he is wrong and sounds like a bit of an idiot for doing so but as I said before I would be a lot more inclined to put it down to pre-fight talk.
