If it were the other way around then there would be uproar.
It's not racism per se - he hasn't made a racist statement in saying he "won't be beaten by a white man" - it's a statement of his intent not to lose to a white man - not a statement of the whole black race being superior to white.
Unfortunately, people are looking for any excuse to lead an uproar claiming reverse racism.
He is saying that he wouldn't ever lose to a white man. This means he thinks he is superior to the white race.
Perhaps he has simply taken a look around the division he is in and has evaluated the contenders before coming to the conclusion that not one of the white guys is a threat to him?
Even so if the shoe was on the other foot Calzaghe would be immediately branded a racist...
