Is this safe to do or....?

Hey all,

I've got a MSI Suprim X 3080 that has 3x8 pin power connectors, the power supply cables are all dual 8pin but because of the angle of the power cables when they enter the GPU, it'll be easier to connect the 2nd 8pin that normally is cable tied away, so my question is this: can I only connect the 2nd 8pin that branches off and not the 1st 8pin that you normally use.

I've highlighted the part of the cable I want to use in the photo (not my photo, just for illustration)

It doesn't matter which of the two you use, the second is looped out of the first.
