Saudi hosting anti-terrorism for islamic coalition: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-35099318

A positive step if it assists the stabilisation. However if penetrated by terrorist groups it could also act as a hub for coordination across all the coalition states and beyond.

The good side of it is it is effectively a statement by the religious leaders in normalising the approach and interpretation of islam. The negative side is if that approach drives for fundamentalism and cold shoulders moderates.

A major caveat being that all atheists are terrorists in their eyes.

Saudi Arabia never does things without some measure of extremism themselves.

Except the Jewish "court" doesn't operate in the same way as a Sharia court.

Jewish ones are informal rulings, anything binding is according to British law, although you can sign something that confirms a ruling as legal.

Sharia courts intimidate and discriminate against women in multiple ways, and the people who run then consider them divinely ordained and therefore above man's law.

And you think Jewish courts don't?

Assad Can Stay, for Now: Kerry Accepts Russian Stance

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry on Tuesday accepted Russia's long-standing demand that President Bashar Assad's future be determined by his own people, as Washington and Moscow edged toward putting aside years of disagreement over how to end Syria's civil war.

"The United States and our partners are not seeking so-called regime change," Kerry told reporters in the Russian capital after meeting President Vladimir Putin. A major international conference on Syria would take place later this week in New York, Kerry announced.

And maybe it will be used to suppress peaceful opposition to torture and tyranny inside those countries even more than it's suppressed already. Only time will tell.

Well there is that too :(. Let's hope it's aimed at groups that betray the moderate(hate that word) Muslims however Saudis track record is far from stellar.

Must admit it is weird that the mainly Shia regions are not getting involved. Whether it's just rivalries getting in the way or more I don't know.

I did, but they operate within the UK law rather than Sharia courts which routinely discriminate against women and non-Muslims. Last time I checked this was illegal but no-one is prepared to enforce it.

Got any links to that? Especially the bit where a Sharia Court in the UK has presided over non muslim problems.

(Just a note, in many muslim countries with Sharia law non muslims aren't necessarily judged by it and are held up to different standards (such as alcohol consumption).

Maybe this will sate the calls from some for Muslims to stand up and take action;

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-35099318

Note they specify othrr terrorist groups? How come they aren't bombing the rebels in Syria instead of arming them?

SA say that Assad is not representative of his people. Well in SA Wahhabism is like 2% of the population. They are so contrary it's laughable.

Partly surprised this wasn't posted already, although not fully because of the fearmongering narrative many in this thread have: ISIS have now lost 40% of their territory in Iraq. The best bit is it's been the Iraqi Army doing the ground work with support from various air forces, primarily US of course.

There's this very informational site that shows the territories over time:

http://isis.liveuamap.com/

Compared to the beginning of the year there is quite a difference:

Good. Fallaise Gap the scumbags and then give them the Basra Road treatment.

Good stuff and it's nice to see the terms "ISIS" and "Islamic State" being used, Daesh was never going to catch on.

whilst I welcome this news I hope it is the reality and they are losing, most people have got it wrong about what has led to ISIS existing and failed to really understand what we are facing, why are they losing ground?, and what happens next? slippery snake.
