The needles are pretty nice. Maybe Alum Bay as it's really close. Cowes, if you are into sailing. If you are into museums and large manor houses you could try Osborne House in East Cowes. Maybe Carisbrooke Castle in Newport. Godshill is kind of a picturesque village. I don't really like the south of the Island as it gets a lot of tourists, and it's just mainly beaches.
would steer clear of ventnor, godshill and shanklin. lots of road works with diversions.
+1 if they're open, carisbrooke castle and the needles.
black Gang Chine can be amusing, mroe for kids though, but still amusing
Or Ventnor or something..
Its amusing for adults to see all the bits that have fallen off the side of the cliffs that place must be getting smaller by the year.
I was brought up about 20 miles from Portsmouth so ended up in the Isle of Wight almost every bloody weekend.
There's a cool model village in Godshill, Old Shanklin is nice for sitting outside a pub in the sun, Alum bay is alright if the cable cars are running, the Spyglass mentioned above is also great, preferred sitting outside though, the inside is a bit dire.
