Our double glazing is 9 years old and one window now has moisture in it so it has failed somewhere. The actual window panes look undamaged so am guessing it is the seal that had gone.
Going round in circles with the window installers where we were asking about their 10 year guarantee and they say that frames and window handles are covered for 10 years and window panes only for 5 so won't honor the guarantee but can't or won't produce any policy or other writing that states this.
Would such an issue generally be covered by a 10 year guarantee?
I understand that this wouldn't be an issue for FENSA but can't find anything else definitive.

Not entirely sure with your contract with your installer, but just to let you know its incredibly cheap to replace blown window panes on upvc windows. The material cost will be in the order of £20 but the fitting cost may be £100 or so to make it worthwhile for an installers time.

Gort, sometimes my friend, life is too short. It has served you 9 years well, pay the £80-£120 and get the blown panel replaced.

To be fair most installers offer 5 years on the sealed units and longer on the frames. A sealed unit is around £75 + fitting so I would just replace it.

Thanks for the replies. I agree life is too short and this isn't something I'm losing sleep over! :)
I neglected to add that what also fueled this post was they they said "sorry, but we'll come out and fix it for £250 + vat." So from that we were going to stand our ground as from looking around that was a pi$$ take.
Since I posted, a friend said they got several windows repaired under warranty after 8 years when seals went but it may well come down to the individual company.
As for the contract itself, sod knows where that is. We have the insurance guarantee certificate so the Mrs is contacting them direct.
1st world problems. :D
