I need a bit of help here, stuggling to see where the problem lies when trying to empty our pool.

I connected the attachment and it starts to drain away.

But as soon as I connect a hose, nothing happens.

Even after I remove the kink in the hose, nothing comes out the other end.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Is there a non return valve in the attachment? If so the pressure from the pool water might not be great enough to overcome the resistance (i.e. might need mains pressure to start water flowing).

My hose has a fitting on the end of it that stops water coming out unless there is something plugged into it meaning you can take the spray gun off and plug it into a pressure washer while the tap is still on. It just looks like a normal hose connector but it isn’t.

You might want to check yours doesn’t have something like that.

As has been said above, check the Hozelock connector (at both ends of the house) doesn’t have a water stop. If you look inside the connector you should be able to see right into the hose. If there’s a white or black bit of plastic right in the middle then there’s a water stop.

Thanks for the replies

There is no water stop in the attachment. Good water flow out of it. No attachments at the other end of the hose.

Maybe the 10m hose pipe is too long ?

I have some half round guttering in the shed, thinking of using that instead of the hose.

You need to suck it man, it is just air locked. Like a golf ball through a hose pipe, give it your best.

How big is the pool?
I bought a water pump for our hot tub rather than use the built in drain, much quicker and no fiddling about required.

Does the hose work as it should without being connected to the drain point?

Remove the hose connector and butt it up against the top pic, see if water comes out the hose then. That will rule out one end if the hose, you haven't said what's on the other end yet.

I emptied mine last weekend using this method. I used one of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B077T6BP9T/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 to get the water flowing then disconnected the pump and pointed the hose into a inspection drain pipe. The hose exit needs to be lower than the hose entrance. Mine took about 4 hours to empty with two hoses being used.

or

Ensure the hose has water in it already then you just need to suck and spit a little.
