i am collecting a G4400 tomorrow for £10, why? because i can and at first i forgot its kabylake G's that are 4 threads ha.

so now im looking for a motherboard, just curious whether its worth buying skylake h110 models i keep seeing used for cheap or spend extra on a skylake/kabylake board?

Most of not all will have a kaby compatible bios available.
Later revisions will probably work out of the box but you'd have to consider it might need a bios flash which would anul any savings if you have to source a skylake chip just to update the bios and run the kaby chip..

Forget the above.. G4400 is skylake so any sky/kaby board will work.

Although it's a 2 core 2 thread cpu, you'd be better off chucking it in the bin for the sake of a tenner and getting a 4thread cpu be it a duel core 4 thread or a proper quad core.
