Football supporters milk the history of their club with honors they had won before they were even born!!!

Doesn't that define the word glory hunter? When i was 5 i could have looked for the club with the most prolific history and preach about them for the rest of my life.

For example, I was born in 1989 and am a Chelsea fan, since my birth we have won

Premier League x2
FA Cup x 3
League Cup x3
FA Community Shield x2
UEFA Cup Winners Cup
European Super Cup

Now for example i have friends who support Tottenham who were also born in 1989 and they go on about how superior their history is.

What right do they have to mention it seeing as they weren't even born when it happened!!! They have a right to mention it but to shove it in my face?

Since 1989

Tottenham have won:

League Cup x2
FA Cup

That's 12-3 in Chelsea's favour yet they still mock me? Same goes for Liverpool who've won 7 trophies since i was born.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

We won this (insert cup) before i even knew we existed (retarded deluded fan)

Congratulations on beating us for the 2nd time in the league in the last 19 years ;) Thus meaning in my lifetime I've only ever witnessed you beat us twice in the league.

No wonder why you all get raging boners over it.

Whats your date of birth got to do with a discussion of a clubs history?

Surely the point of history is its happened in the past, it doesn't matter about how far in the past, why should it end when you were born? Why not stop it, ooh, I dunno, about 2 years ago. You'd be crap then ;)

Did football not exist before 1989 or something?

If I'm talking with someone who was born when they actually won the cups they have every right to talk about it.

If I'm talking with a 50 year old Liverpool fan he has every right to shove it in my face

But a 19 year old spurs fan who has only seen his club lift 3 cups in his lifetime? He can go do one.

Try reading my post properly.

Must be hard seeing your club lift 3 trophies in the last 20 years?

Even before we came in to money, we still have a far superior tally compared to you over the last 20 years.

....and at what cost? Your club had spent themselves to the brink of administration :p

You can't lord it over anyone.

No it's not hard, I'm Spurs win, lose or draw. Will be harder for you when you end up in the soup.... will you still be a big Chelsea fan then?

I remember when you lot were in Division 2 son ;)

I'll always be a Chelsea fan, back in 1989 we won the second division, can hardly accuse me of being one of the fans who jumped on the bandwagon.

It sounds rather like you want 'history' to only count when it is in your favour, while I'd agree that after a certain point it doesn't bear as much importance to you and you've quite clearly had no influence over it that doesn't mean that you shouldn't still be able to be proud of it. Why pick the date of your birth for instance as the cut off point? Does that date have any particular significance for Chelsea? Did your birth inspire them to a winning performance?

Chelsea have a more successful recent history than Tottenham, you can possibly appreciate why it sounds a little bit suspicious that you wish to discount the history prior to that.

For the record I don't support either of the teams in question, my team was founded 8 odd years before either of those two was a twinkle in the eye. ;)

Jesus, I'm talking about with reference to who I'm talking WITH

Tell me why a 19 year old spurs fan has any right to mention the FA Cup won in 1901

If I'm talking with a 60 year old spurs fan they can go on about winning the league in 1960-61 as much as they like.

They have a right to mention it because it is part of the history of the club, you're obviously welcome to discount it as being unimportant, I probably would too but why draw the line at the date of your/their birth?

Why not? Why is it relevant if they weren't born?

As i said, when i was 5/6 i could have just looked at the team with the best history and decided to support them even though i haven't witnessed a single one of their honors.
