When did computer gamers move in to such a main stream roll as "World class gamers" and should they be any more or less respected than other sports?

does it matter? Its a "sport" anyone can participate in.

It is not a sport but then again neither are snooker or darts.

I'm surprised they're only playing the original version of CS.

Definatly a sport though, requires skill and practice.

The games being played include CounterStrike, Quake 4, Warcraft 3 and Pro Evolution Soccer 4.

Is that a mistake or are they really using 4 instead of 6?

SPORT: an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature,

I guess if moving your hand about on a mouse pad counts as "physically active and strong" then it's athletic

Well it does say skill OR physical prowess, so there's no reason why it shouldn't be counted as a sport.

Why? CS 1.6 has always been the best competetive team game practically since its release.

Definately takes a lot more practice than any who haven't played at a high level will ever realise.

I loved 4 at the time, took me a long time to adjust to 5 when it came but I think it was slowly moving in the right direction, 6 was the same, not what I wanted or expected and had lots of things missing, but still the best by far.

Having been involved with the PES community for a number of years, and known of the disappointment in 5 and 6, i was still unaware that anyone still played 4 at any level.
