Its it just me or have component prices gone mad everywhere?!

I checked ocuk just now, and everything seems considerably more expensive, and some hard drives are almost twice as much as they were a few months ago!

So i had a look around on the internet, and prices have sky rocketed everywhere!

What the heck is going on?

I was asked to spec a system for someone for a grand (inc periphs) and i cant get anywhere near as much for his money as i did with mine :(
 
the prices of RAM has gone down, the price of SSD's has gone up, the price of peripherals seems to have gone down, the price of HDD's and Optical drives have gone up?

i'm so confused...
