IQ tests are designed to give a normally distributed results, meaning that the average is supposed to be 100.

It's like saying the average length of a metre is 100cm.

No it's not 'cause all metres (i.e. the mode) is 100 cm long whereas not all people are, but the average (or mean) is 100. If IQ increases over time, does it mean that the scoring should be brought back so the average is 100?

Look at all the things that come out of germany thats ahead of everyone else.
That seems to be only Europe though, i suspenct Japan would be up there aswell.

IQs are indeed renormalised over time.

Using a fixed measurement was a poor example, but then not everyone is completely familiar with distributive functions and statistical techniques.

I should have instead compared it to the standard error obtained from measuring a meter being zero.

honestly now , french are a a northerner nation , how come they score under the medieval greeks or siesta-loving spaniards? it doesnt make sense if indeed northern tribes have larger brains.
