Its only illegal to distribute right??

Ok my PC's ******, I need to take it in. Fan's finally stopped working after a few days of death throws, I can't fix it, so will need to take it in. However there may be a few less than legitimate copies of things on it, and I've been told its now normal policy to scan hard-drives of all PC's brought in, so.... as the title says, its only illegal to distrubute right?

And

I don't suppose taking the side off and pointing a fan at it would by any chance be a stop-gap......... ^^

And I was always told it is illegal for "them" to look at your data - especially if they're fixing a hardware fault.

No-where is going to give a toss. Including PC World. Mate took his PC in there (I could have fixed it but thats another story) and gave them a cracked copy of Win XP to re-install with and they were fine with it as long as his serial number worked.

All the employees are geeks too, and I'd be willing to be a good load of them use P2P as well. You'll have no worries.

Why take it in? There is nothing they can do which cannot be done by searching google. You really are throwing money down the drain.

Its illegal to have "illegitimate material" on your computer regardless of whether you distribute it or not as the chances are it will be breaking copyright laws. This was a similar situation to how Gary Glitter got caught out I believe.

Well if it's not legit, then it's hardly legal is it? In other words, no, posession is also illegal.

Ay, cheers. Just overally worried about being arrested lol

Not sure where yet, a few places near me and stil hoiping for a mate to come through. Obvious poroblem is they'd be doing it as a favour but I need it soon.
