It's the f-stop for Kodak!

but will they? I don't rate the 4s camera that much, we have a Fuji F45FD which is 3 years old and it is light years ahead of camera phones in soooo many ways!

exactly...but Canon and a few others have noticed this and are taking steps that way. People will always buy p&s and compacts....the manufacturers who produce decent products at the right cost will survive. Kodak is the Nokia of cameras...too slow to react with products people don't really want.

My 4s has replaced the need to worry about taking a camera at all to most places when out with the family, the quality is more then good enough in typical* conditions, and it saves having to lug my DSLR around unless i want to take an extra nice image.
Was actually considering a good compact for this, but tbh the 4s isn't far enough behind to make it worth while.

* Meaning not too dark (due to weather or night)

that's what I mean. Wifey keeps F45 in her bag, and if needed it comes out. Phones do suffice some of the time, but if not the F45 is miles ahead
