It's too hot :(

We've got approx 1300 litres of rainwater storage. Maybe a tad more. If it doesn't rain for a couple weeks we've used it all.

Funny thing about the last couple of years, we've had months of non-stop rain and then months (plural) of no rain.

Now my memory isn't the best, but I don't remember too many years previously that fit that pattern. Here in Cornwall rain is not normally something we are lacking ;) But these past couple years have seen some pretty extreme (by our standards) droughts.

After we use our stored water I just use the mains. We're on a meter anyway so I pay for what I use.

How do you guys cope on holiday?

I honestly don't know. I normally spend a lot of time in Turkey over the summer since my wife is from there.

The type of heat makes a difference. It's drier there, so more comfortable. But it's still hard. Ideally I'd live somewhere like Anchorage. Or Nuuk.

When I was a kid and we used to go on holiday to places like Spain or the south of France I used to stay indoors the whole time.

It's really ****ing hard disliking warm, bright weather. For multiple reasons. Not just physical reasons but social.

EDIT: I've been referred for treatment for possible SSAD/GAD by the way [psychiatric assessment forthcoming].

Social reasons, does that mean people think you’re a nutcase

I hate sun and it being uncomfortably warm, I prefer it being dark outside and a very slight chill.

Yes, that's the ideal. Though I am happy with cloudy and anything below 14-15C or so.

Most of the issues I have, weirdly enough, are not with heat but light and activity. Heat does play a part, definitely, but mostly it's the increased light and activity I hate.

Awful here

Just turned the fan on in the bedroom to run overnight for the first time this year, it's 17C outside and at least 20C indoors. :(

A well insulated home for cold winters can also do a good job of keeping the heat out in summer.

I'm not saying we aren't a country of whingers but our crap housing stock doesn't help us. Too cold in winter, too hot in summer, just about right for a few weeks in May and September :p

It's lovely at the moment though :D

Very true the room thats warmest in my house in winter is also the coolest in the summer.

I am not sweating somehow but yes its very hot and unpleasant.

Room temp is 24.9C at almost 1am with window and door open.

No air movement at all not even a slight breeze. Temps are around 2-3C lower than i usually see peak summer which is usually mid July onwards. Its a very hot end of may start of june.

I only wish it would cool down at night. Can get as hot as it wants during the day. I just don't like sitting in the sun give me some shade and 28c and im happy.

Actually 20c and 53 percent humidity during the night as the poor man in the average wage thread can I recommend a good old through draft, works a treat when I leave kitchen door open, surprisingly wildlife doesn't fly in.
Also the blinds are black out so it's possible to have on if not too windy

I would love to leave windows open, we get a good airflow if we open windows on either side, however my mrs goes crazy paranoid that bugs will come in, we usually get a lot of spiders come in so windows need to stay shut at night :?
If it gets too hot the AC needs to come out.

Tbh I'm the same at night but find it cools down enough if I leave open early evening, have a real fear of spiders but luckily only get the puny ones ;)
