I've been given the opportunity to work in Pakistan

Its to work at a bank, probably in the capital city. Bank is one of our customers.

I did look on the FCO page for Pakistan and the list of advisories and warnings was impressive to say the least.
 
Pakistan, no thanks. It's a dump and not a friendly country by any stretch of the imagination. You're white and that means you're public enemy number one.

Haha, trust me, since the whole 9/11 thing, times have changed. For the worse. Irrevocably!
 
There are many nice places in Pakistan, some of my family lives there, I could ask if you could stay with them (depending on the area.)
 
All these blatent "No" answers and not one has thought of asking how much you are actually being offered to work there. Are you being given all expenses. Are you paid for travelling, your total time there - are you staying at a very good hotel ?? So many questions unanswered and already you are being swayed to turn the offer down.

I know of companies who have paid as much as $250 an hour ;) for people to come for a weeks work in dangerous environments - so sometimes it really is worth considering. Contractors can earn £2000 in a 40 hour week, doing basically nothing in countries regarded as risky - and the thing is, once you are there and you work out the real risks involved - your employers more than likely will ask you to stay on bit longer.

I spent 3 months this year in Pakistan. I loved it and hated it at the same time. Depending on where you go, it's not bad. Just don't flaunt money about or you will be like poo to the flies. They'll swarm you!!
