hi all if you remember me i was doing my install saturday well it took bit longer than i thought but being new to building my own pc it was expected.

so here we are everything was packed nice and tight in box checked list done and everything there.



so next was to get started after a coffee or two and a quick read of the maunals ect here's the case antec 300



so next we got the mobo to put in first here we are asus p5q pro



once i sorted out that and added her into the case i started on the cpu added the artic thermal paste pretty straight forward that bit,then straight into her new home,added the artic cooler pro 7 in and here we are



next was the chunky ram called the corsair dominator 4gb of ram with airflow fan(whether this works or just a gimmic i dont know)looks nice feels solid andeasy to clip in mobo here we are



the fan just clips on top fairly tight and snug fit have a look yourself!!





^^^^^^^just fits in next to the artic fan^^^^^

not gonna bother boring you with pitures of hdd,cdrom,dvd units as we all know what they look like lol.so here's the fishished pc.



so overall how did i feel doing my very first pc blooming wonderfull:D scary at times and when you come to boot her up and see the screen say no boot device ect ya know we are there.the psu gave me some headaches mainly cables what goes where but thanks to the guys here i sorted it,tryed to tidy cables up a bit but i anit gonna see inside anyway but it looks good.so all thay leaves me to learn and do is the overclocking any links plz would be great.

here we go so do i need to move it then also pci-e cable is that the one that comes with psu i see one that has pci-e written on it just fished it out of the nice bag they give ya lol

thanks for replies so far i have moved card up to the correct slot here's the results from gpu-z

so whats next then any advice do i need to run it in for a day?
should i do a test or something see what it will give me prior to overclocking it any advice or ideas would be great even a step by step guide to it as i am new to all this and could do with a little help cheers
 
ok cheers i will be shortly think i let pc run for a day or on normal and do a bit of reading ect,so far she's doing fine got that pc probe program which comes with mobo temps are cpu 13c mb 32c is that ok there is a AI suite and AI booster says i can oc from it instead of bois or are these programs crap!!

sorted fans out took off that epu 6 engine thingy me jig lol.quite as a nuns chapel:)
what will i be looking at with overclocking coming from stock settings,going to do a 3dmark06 see what i get from normal stock settings then when i get info on o/c i then do it again and see what difference it makes, i will post my results shortly
 
well i must be a natural pc builder lmao just patience and took me time in doing it really double checked asked millions of questions on here and i got there with out any clitches,well sometime this week i be doing my overclock got read up on that anyone with the same spec as mine what safe results you get i would like help on it cheers
 
yes i managed to move the card up to the 16x slot and fan was well clear so that was a bonus also i had to move hardrive down a slot as the wiring was in way.but all good just got to work out how to overclock it and buy some games lol.
 
hi all thought i would come back to this tread and say,how things are going.
so far all is running well had to replace the dvd drive, and redo the paste as was getting 90c at full load:eek: but redoing the paste and heatsink sorted that out and now sits at around the 50c mark give or take a degree,at full load(thanks setter for that advice:))

my mission hopefully is to get to 3.4ghz,so at 3.2 so far and no problems:D

so in all i think im doing quite well for someone who never built a pc before lol any suggestions plz feel free to add them below
 
my cpu is at 1.3 as my vid is 1.3 is that right and i left ram on auto i hada look on ram stick and states its 2.1v so do i take auto off and type in the 2.1v,also how do i change the multiplier and hows it typed out,sorry im still learning this bit?

If your cpu speed is 3200 (3.2 ghz) i would lower the cpu multiplier to 8 and up the fsb to 400, then just change the memory divider so its as close to 1066 without going over, but make sure your giving your ram and cpu the correct voltages.

ok i followed the above that takes me to 3.6ghz which would be nice whether it would hold in prime i give it a bash anyway lol
im a bit confused over the ram settings, 801mhz,961mhz,1280mhz which one do i go choose:confused:
 
i have change it from 333 to 400 and has given me 1066ghz option what you want me to do now, i put 1.3v for cpu as my vid is 1.3 when i first started o/c should i increase it if so what should i type in??
