I've joined the luxobarge club

Bit of an update:

Found somewhere to download the latest Navteq 09/10 disc, and I now have a built in sat-nav that I'm pleasantly surprised with considering the car is 9 years old! Sure TomTom and such like have more options and have a better graphic interface. But the built in nav does all you should need really; plan and re-route destinations on the move, signal is quick, points of interest, map, junction displays and audio directions. It takes O2/Vodafone sims for the telematics, so I'll pick up a free sim soon too. And the bose system actually is very nice (best OE equip I've experienced), 8 speakers, amp and sub as standard iirc, which doesn't distort at high volumes.

Had the car nearly two months now, and its MOT was due.

A week before MOT time the EML came on, oh noooes! Off I went to OOF to look for advice and came across the 'pedal trick' which mainly gave me lambda sensor errors on both banks. The car actually drove fine, just idled slightly roughly. Looked through the service history of the car and the previous owner had replaced a lambda sensor and knock sensor at Vauxhall to the tune of £400 (!) just 3 months earlier, I'm definitely not going there! Bit more research and I decided to replace the MAF (as it's unlikely for both banks to fail at the same time), quick and easy, and no more problems! Required a Tech 2 charge to clear the codes though.

So onto the MOT.. it failed.

But I was kind of expecting that anyway given the price of the car and it is 9 years old after all. Thankfully nothing too serious. It needed a new windscreen as there was a chip just outside the accepted 10mm dimensions, just as well I have windscreen cover \o/. It also needed a near side front track rod end which isn't much at all, and some Forte system conditioner to get it through emissions. And that's it. Not too shabby imo, hopefully 12 months of trouble free motoring.

I'll probably stick some better rubber on it before winter sets in, not that I've had issues so far despite being on lower-mid range tyres. Have to say that I'm very much still pleased with my purchase and can recommend it to anyone wanting some luxobarge motoring at a not so eye watering expense.

My dad had one of these, (the older type) it was so comfy and on the motorway it was really good, solid car. It did guzzle a lot though. 2.0l 30mpg if lucky.

Now why did they replace the Omega with the Signum, it is a piece of **** and hardly anyone has bought one.

2.5 months and 2500 miles later, still loving the car.

Replaced the camcover gaskets as they were a little leaky, OE gasket kit cost me £60 from a friendly OOF member. Recently got my ABS card which is the best £20 I've ever spent; got 5L 10w40, air, oil, pollen, fuel filters all OEM for £40. :D It also helped me blag my halfords trade card. :p

Also had 4 new Uniroyal Rainsport 2's on the car for a month now. Overall very pleased and would recommend, especially with the performance in wet conditions in which they have been sure footed despite recent very heavy downpours.

Also has 12 months tax now, which is £245 for anyone interested.

I do desperately need to clean it now though, very dirty after 1000+ miles in the last week.

The centre console of that car is better than the centre consoles Vauxhall offer in its entire current fleet.

No it's clearly not, the above centre console his a horrible jumble of crappy wood and badly laid out buttons it looks like an incoherent mess. Every recent Vauxhall I've been in has a better laid out dash made of significantly better materials.

Currently needing a bigger car myself due to mine being written off the other week, does anyone know what the 2.2DTi versions of these are like on fuel as I really like the look of the one in this post!
