Ivy Bridge PCI-Express Scaling with HD 7970 and GTX 680

Thanks for the link.

The general conlusion seems to be that if you have at least PCI-E 1.1 x16, 2.0 x8 and 3.0 x4 there's nothing to worry about.

You're welcome guys, yes it's a good read, seems once the 7990 is out he will be doing another test like this with the Nvidia GTX 690 and AMD 7990. :)

would have been nice to see a quick comparison of SLI/crossfire as well, as lets face it that is usually when people start to delve in to having to use x8 or x4 slots

I don't think anyone thought that a single card at pcie2.0 vs 3.0 was going to show massive gains

Yep I was thinking this as well.

good to see that this gen of graphics cards still run as well on pci express 2 as they do on the new pci express 3.0 boards.

wont need to rush out for a pci express 3.0 motherboard until maybe the next gen of cards come out next year.

It's a different story for quad SLI/3 way crossfire isn't it? I remember watching a youtube video linked here where 4 680's were hugely bottlenecked by PCIe 2.0.

Not your average set-up admittedly :)
