James Bond 007 1:8 Scale Aston Martin (tv advert)

Aston martin model

Having looked for other models of this car and found same sized models going for around £1500 to £2500.
I think the price is not too bad, considering the amount of detail that has gone into it , when you think the above prices are for a non functioning model, the partworks one has working :- lights , brakelights, no. plates, overrider nudge bars, bullet proof shield, ejector seat, tyre slashers, horn, light up dashboard clocks, radar, pull up aerial, openong doors, bonnet and boot ......... yes there are some plastic parts such as interior and floorpan, but the rest is cast in metal.
I know this will probably cause a stir , but yes I have taken out a subscription for this , & in reply to the comments I know will come I'd like to say .... How many of you smoke !? how many of you drink !? , judging by all the previous comments you have decided this model is crap , and not worth it! .... am I right !? yet at the end of it I will have something to show for the cost , you smokers and drinkers will have what ??? oh yeah Nothing to show for probably treble the cost !...... Makes you think does'nt it ....

When I found this forum topic I thought that there might be some serious model collectors, I was wrong .. rest assured I won't be coming back ..

Always a rip off these things.
whether its a wooden boat, RC car, model of the solar system, whatever, 84 weekly issuses or monthly issues at £7 for a wafer thin pamphlet and two bits of the model.

Why would you think that?
Its not a model collectors forum Mr first post slagging of the forum I work for the magazine most probably.

I love how they ALWAYS offer the first issue (or first couple) for like £1, so you have the first few pieces of the 'puzzle' shall we say, then you are left with an unfinished piece and decide you might as well buy the next 100 issues for £5 each to complete it lol

lol ^^

comparing this to smoking and drinking is a fail on so many levels.

On a monetary basis? not so much. Two pints covers the price of the magazine quite easily. I've not idea how much a packet of fags is, but I'm sure if you smoke more than 20 a week then you'll be spending more than the price of the magazine. Each to his own as they say.

Blatantly an employee :p

Just because we don't agree with you doesn't mean you shouldn't post - there wouldn't be any members left by now if that were the logical thing to do!

It is going to be a crap model, it's not going to look like in the pictures and spare parts are going to be a joke if you make a mistake. It's just something for stupid people to spend money on.

I had a friend that built one of those magazine 'robots'. Collected all the bits from each issue, took him a year or two. Suffice to say, I was his only friend :D

LOL I attempted that. My dad bought the magazines when they came out, got to issue 5 and never bothered after that. Such a waste of money, but a good business idea. Even if it's not very ethical.

Very few, if any, newsagents will ever keep these magazines.

We get the introductory magazine, but then we have to pay to buy the subscription, and if we don't sell them we can't send them back or anything we just lose out on the money.

Newsagents get burned, we get kids who want the magazines and after a couple of issues they decide its not worth it so we lose out!

Hey I am a proud builder of the T-Rex and did about half of the robot :P
It's a nice little activity for a younger kid, i.e my dad used to help me build the robot when I was little and taught me about the parts, which isn't bad for £4-5 if I enjoyed it and it was educational!

There are always loads of things like that, but I assume some people actually do go and buy every single issue.

And I'm better almost every single poster (ok ok, a lot of posters...) less than 25 has bought at least one issue of that magazine on dinosaurs that came with 3D glasses and every week came with a figure to build a T-rex :p

I know someone at primary school that completed t-rex, not just the skeleton, but the outer shell

I nostalgiad hard.

Those magazines were awesome. I had about 3/4 of the skeleton. Think I may have had a few bits of the shell but I was missing so many issues.
