January Transfer Window 2010/2011 Season Rumours/Signings

SSN saying Carroll to Liverpool is a deal in excess of 35m and could rise to 40m

You couldn't write this stuff! :p

Im going to give our owners some credit.
Maybe, just maybe they think "you know what, sod it .. give em the cash, get the target .. forget value for money now just get who we want no matter the cost. there's plenty of time for value for money once financial fair play comes into force"

In which case - i like Carroll as a prospect, ignoring the fee. Its not even my money so :p

Indeed. As I said above, paying stupid money or not, at least we've got money to spend now.
Yeah well as I learned a long time ago never kick a Scouser when they're down... they tend to go and fluke a Champions League if you do.

United don't need to buy anyone, or at least think they don't. Which is simultanously calming and worrying, because of our fairly comfortable league position now but also the fear that we'll do **** all again in the Summer.

Although I do keep harking back to that 'nothing' transfer last Summer that turned out to Hernandes. :D

To compare apple to apple. Torres scored around 35 goals or so in his first 90 matches as a professional player with A Madrid. Caroll managed 32 goals in his first 90 matches. Apple to Apple, anyone wants to tell me that he DEFINITELY cannot be as good as Torres?

Wayne Rooney 67 games over two PL seasons 15 goals aged 18 : £25.6 million

Andy Carroll 19 Games 11 Goals in the 10/11 PL season so far, aged 22: £35 million

Not that I'm suggesting he might have potential or anything ;)

I dont want to sell Carroll but 40mil?

Dear me!

I could understand him leaving for a top club but not really Liverpool, but hell 40mill is 40mill :p

Not even Mike Ashley's stupid enough to accept monopoly money :p

In fact, you can't even afford enough sets of monopoly to get enough money to bid for him :p

Haha, classic. There is a difference between not needing to spend £35 million on a player because you are 5 points clear at the top of the table, and panic buying a poor mans replacement for a striker you didnt want to sell. I am a little worried that liverpools 'renaissance' is being a tad oversold.

You have lost your best player by a way and replaced him with a player that likes to get sent off for misbehaviour (handballs and biting) and another that has injured himself by drinking too much and again, doesn't have the best disciplinary record.

I am sure that the lack of trophies and quality in liverpools squad won't bother carrol or suarez like it did torres though!

Stewart's gone to Hull permanently now. Heard they were bidding for him and Evans.

Been pretty decent this season apparently, though off the boil in the last couple of games.

I honestly cannot believe we're offering more than £35m for Carroll. I can't believe we're offering £35m in fact.

This has got to be Ashley/Newcastle telling the press that the fee is more than it is and/or at least £10m of the £35m being in add-ons.

Who knows, earlier today the press were trying to pass off the Torres deal as £95 million (by including in addons and wages)

I would say some of the add-ons would be only be payable if Carroll stayed out of court for the duration of his contract, but that would be a bit rich from Anfield eh...

Just seen he's worn a snood whilst at Hull. That'll be why he's gone then.

Aww poor BaZ. I can see your pre-conceptions about the world shattering around you as we speak.

This is what those in the profession call "Stage 1". Be a part of it BaZ, let it flow through you. ;)

EDIT: Noooooooooooooooo. WHYYY
