He is also nowhere near as good as the options Utd have this season, so its debatable whether he would add much to the bench

a lot of people seem to like him because he's English.....if he wasnt, he wouldnt be considered much better than an average player imo

Spurs would be mad if they sold him for £40m IMO.

He's a top player with his entire career ahead of him, in today's market is easily worth more than £40m.

Well the Sunderland fans rate him, he's done far more there in a team challenging for a european spot than Macheda has done in Italy. At his age there's more than enough promise there to not let him go yet.

I'd be so miffed if Rooney goes for some stupid fee he's not worth it neither was Torres for 50m.

If you take Ronaldo as the benchmark he is far superior to Rooney!

There is a significant difference between Utd's expectations for every player and Sunderland's (no disrespect to the Black Cats)

He would be a good player for them, I just doubt he would be much of an addition to Utd's squad

Anyway according to reports Welbeck will remain at Sunderland next season

A few reports suggesting that we've agreed a deal to sign Sylvain Marveax on a free in the summer.

The talk is that he's a pretty decent winger if not spectacular. With Babel going and the likes of Cole and Jovanovic (hopefully) likely to be on the way out too, we could do with signing at least 2 wingers this summer.
