But Ashley won't spend, you know he won't :p

Haven't seen much of him, but a good start and the weakest place in the team, giving Ba a real partner, and probably most importantly, one he knows, likes, and has experience playing with will likely help getting him up to speed.

If Newcastle can sign 1-2 more slightly stronger rotation/backup players they'll, well they are already moving in the right direction but its just looking increasingly good for them at the moment.

It wasn't a blatant lie though was it because he didn't follow the managers orders which was to warm up to come on.

He was found to be in breach of his contract multiple times so Tevez wasn't exactly a saint in the situation was he.

You don't have to be ecstatic but you don't go AWOL and try and engineer your own moves away from the club behind the back of the club and then start using your "advisor" to undermine the club at every situation.

He went AWOL LONG after Mancini had said on several different occasions he'll never play for him again.

Be honest, training on his own, not with the first team, when you won't ever play with the team because your manager has said he won't play you.......... if he trains or not at the right times at that point is irrelevant isn't it?

As for a blatant lie, yes, Mancini did lie and was being petulant and stupid and deflecting from MANY poor choices in the game(ones which he still makes, Nasri and Silva on the wings against decent teams, lol).

Imagine you're, I dunno, working in a lawyer's firm and the boss is giving you crap, he demands you make him a coffee, then when you make it, he says its not good enough and demands you do it again, and again and again.

He's warmed up, at that point there isn't more warming up to do, as I understand it he didn't refuse to warm up, he just said he was ready to go on and Mancini over reacted like a spoilt child having a bad day.

Mancini had already had a shout at Dzeko for being angry at being taken off, quite rightly, and he had a go at Zabaleta for good measure.

Personally I think there was a fair amount of misunderstanding in the whole situation and its fairly unlikely Tevez did anything but say he didn't need to warm up and Mancini probably misunderstood the message to him. But the way Mancini reacted, if Tevez refused to come off, refused to warm up, or did nothing at all, was awful, he did lie, he caused a HUGE public commotion over something that should have been completely private, internal and not an issue.

The actual fine given in the end well, it wasn't huge and always came across as face saving, realistically at that point they had two options didn't they, back Tevez completely which would basically have made Mancini's job untenable, or back him to a certain degree. At which point they should have been looking to offload Tevez quickly, for whatever they could get.

The longer it drags on frankly the stupider Mancini and the club look.

So it makes it ok to go AWOL because Mancini had said things about him?

The reason he was on his own was because he returned from the Copa America late and was working with a physio to get his fitness back up. Either so he can be sold or can return to the team.

No he didn’t lie. Did Tevez follow Mancini’s instructions yes or no?
Those poor choices have put us top of the league so heres hoping he keeps making them!
(Lol at you if you also thought that this team was going to immediately play fantastic with both Nasri and Silva in the team)

Well if your paid 200k a week you do exactly what you are told again and again. It is his job to play football. Part of that job requires following instructions from a "high ranked" person in this case Mancini.

So what if he thinks he is warmed up, Mancini is telling him to do it again. Why doesn’t he go and do it?

Shouted at him for doing nothing in the game….understandable. Having a go at Zaba to talk some sense into Tevez most likely.

The fine was nearly 1m until the PFA halved it amazingly. Not exactly a low fine was it.

This is my final say on the matter. It is clear we aren’t going to agree and quite frankly I trust Mancini/City over anything Tevez and you for that matter will ever say and not surprisingly this is the stance taken by pretty much everyone apart from you.

Sorry but, you're making excuses every single time you change what Mancini said so it wasn't a lie, so it was Tevez and not him. Mancini did no go on camera and say Tevez wouldn't warm up, he said, flat out, he refused to play.... that was a lie. He also lied about having a conversation about it in Italian apparently. As for believing me or City, well City didn't back Mancini's original claims either, the only person here not in agreement is you in terms of what Mancini did or didn't say.

As for doing what you're told, if Tevez was a slave, yes, if not, no. Again you're rather skirting around the argument as Mancini FIRST claimed Tevez refused to play.... I haven't seen any proof that he "refused" to warm up either. AGain what Mancini first claimed happened, a direct conversation where Tevez refused to PLAY.... DID NOT HAPPEN, City don't believe this happened. So what was said is simply unknown right now, he MIGHT have refused to warm up, he MIGHT have just said he had warmed up, Mancini misunderstood and went into a rage over nothing, you don't know, I don't know...... the ONLY thing we know is that Mancini's first claim was a complete lie, the only guy I KNOW was wrong, is Mancini.

I also haven't said Tevez shouldn't be training, but ultimately you're paying him to sit on his arse, or train....... either way he's never playing and either way you're paying him it really doesn't matter to City.

Lastly, yes the fine is small, its 500k, that's two weeks wages, a wage that Tevez wouldn't have gotten anywhere else. That's 13mil a year, while anywhere else if he'd been lucky to get 150k a week that's 7.8mil.... he'd also be playing football not improving his golf game. I don't think the 500k is really going to hurt him is it.

Also for the record the league had them half the fine because the "investigation" pretty much proved he did nothing wrong, but they wanted to fine him anyway. You can fine any play 2 weeks wages for just about anything, you need approval for a bigger fine, they obviously showed their proof and likely Tevez had representation at the hearing at the club, and they didn't hear anything that warranted it...... shouldn't that tell you something.

Gah am so pumped.

Pa**** seems really down to earth like Ba and looks like he fit in well.

Other clubs must be scratching their heads atm. Ba around 5million after fees, Papiis around 9m, Santon 5m, Ben Arfa 3-4m, Cabaye 4m and Tiote 3.5m lol

Mike Ashley must be a fan of bargain hunters

I think Onouha would do really well at Newcastle, surprised that you haven't come in for him considering the lack of depth in defence. He has played for Sunderland but would you mind that much?

Pardew was at the Burnley game. It's beleived he was watching Rhys Williams?

Yohan Benalouane is meant to be joining on loan with a view to buy

Good signing, hopefully he can convert it across to the PL and hit a good partnership with Ba, could potentially be brilliant! :D

What a capture Newcastle have made with Cisse.

Completely unknown to myself, but after watching videos of the player, I think PL defences are going to be quite scared now!!!

All I hope now is we keep all our current players with lots of eyes looking at the likes of Ba, Cabaye, Krul and Tiote. I would also like to include our scouting team and coaching team too, as they are the backbone to our current success.

Think we all as Newcastle supporters need to give the Mike Ashley bashing a good long break now, I hold my hands up myself and will admit I have called the man. But he or derek llambias or whoever are doing a cracking job at the club, the following events have come to prove that someone working in the background at Newcastle knows football more than any Newcastle United fan. The sale of Nolan was genius, Cabaye has been a revelation and players like Nolan and Barton (too big for their own boots) needed to be shown the door as a warning sign to all other players that no one person is bigger than the club.

Also on the defender front, YES we do need a CB desperately. But I would like to take this time to show my appreciation for the job Mike Williamson is doing currently, stepping in straight away and doing a job for the team. Also with Stevey T on the mend Newcastle are a force to be reckoned with come next season, Europe is almost a certainty if we keep players from sale and injury (touches wood).

Also the next major event is the contract renewal of the influential skipper Colo, he has been sensational this season, and it's rare to find a defender who can A) defend and B) play football!! His touches are sublime, ball control is impeccable, and he controls the defence. He has become some player over the last few seasons

Newcastle's buying department have been doing a cracking job for a while now. Cisse looks another good value addition and I could not believe that no one else was pushing for Ba in the Summer.

I agree with you about giving Ashley a break. He and Llambias might not know the first thing about fan relations, but they appear to be on the right road to running a sustainable and successful club.

I wouldn't hold out too much hope about players not being sold. Part of the business model is to buy cheap and sell expensive in order to fund further acquisitions, so you can expect the likes of Tiote, Cabaye and Krul to go in the next year or so, but suitable replacements will be found.

I respect what Cashley is trying to do in regard to balancing the books but I just get irritated as I feel has leaned too far toward making money in the short term rather than holding together a squad and looking longer term in regards to winning things and getting prize money or finishing higher up the league and getting more money for that. I get we have to be realisitic and are unlikely to win much with the money the top clubs have but selling your best players on every transfer window does not help as it creates instability and could result in relegation again.

How often can you find another Krul, Tiote, Ba or Cabaye? Will be interesting to see how determined he becomes to build now that club is (apparently) breaking even in April at the end of the financial year. Hopefully it will bring about a more positive squad building atmosphere whislt sticking to making the club profitable or at least not peeing away money like most PL clubs.

£45kpw for an average prem defender is not tempting Ashley at all, not when Cisse is on less than that.

Even for te reported £2.5m fee, it still doesn't represent good business.

Mike has been ruthless the way he has gone about his job at Newcastle but he is getting results.
Mike knows.that there is a lot more money to be made from club at the top end of the table.
