Last time I felt this excited about a centre forward partnership it was Alan Shearer and Les Ferdinand.

Have you seen Cisse play? Never heard of him myself

He's one of those players who has been average for many years, in average leagues, and had 1-2 decent seasons lately. I remember Tottenham being linked to him as he has something like a 1 goal in 2 games ratio over the last season and a half in Germany (I think), but before that hadn't done much. Will be interesting to see how he does here, and if he is a replacement for Ba, as I've seen floating about today.

Yes. I get over to Germany quite bit and watch games.

He's good.

As has been mentioned, he was first linked with us last January and I've been keeping an eye out for him since then. I'm please that we are going to be playing two out and out centre forwards and that we are going to be putting crosses into the box.

Also when you look at the strikers we've had since Ferdinand it's not that hard to get excited:

Guivarc'h, Tomasson, Rush, Saha, Gallacher, Cordone, Cort, LuaLua, Kluivert, Luque, Owen, Smith, Viduka, Xisco, Nacho,

(Exceptions: Asprilla, Ferguson and Bellamy)

Come to think of it, it's probably not just the strikers that are exciting me, but the cumulative effect of the way the club is turning itself around both on and off the pitch, with this just being the latest 'good thing'.

I definitely agree with that, even at the start of the season when you sold Nolan and had the trouble with Barton it seemed like same old same old Newcastle hitting the self destruct button but fair play no ones thinking like that now. Newcastle look very much a top 7 club and certainly above the likes of Everton now imo

I've seen youtube clips of him. The guy can put the ball in the back of the net!!!

He's more of an off the shoulder striker whereas Demba is happy to come deeper to collect the ball. These 2 will gel nicely and having played together before hopefully very quick so us fans can have plenty goals to cheer about.

I have no doubt he will continue his goal record achieved in Germany. He will have better supply (biast view) from Cabaye, Tiote, Jonas and Raylor. He will also have an exceptional talent alongside him in Ba (If we don't sell him of course).

Given the quality Dzeko has around him and the amount of goals he scored in Germany, you would have thought he would have done a little better. By no means a forgone conclusion that!

Cisse is good from the 3 or 4 games I've seen on ESPN! Kept an eye out for him last season and this one since he was linked to everybody about a year or so ago. Good striker, good technician, could call him a fox in the box though I don't like that, often in the right place though. Excellent buy for Newcastle

Bit like Koscielny, except Cisse starts for his country already, he got 20+ goals last season too

11 goals in 17 appearances in the league this season from Dzeko.

He's a poacher, good at putting the ball in the back of the net, we've not really had one of them for some time, Cole i reckon.

Anyway what excites me is this transfer has been made without it being done via a release clause, free transfer or end of contract, we've gone out and paid decent money (big money for us under Ashley) to get the man we wanted. That is the most exciting thing about it, it was planned and not opportunistic like a lot of our signings (which have been great tbf)

Leeds have just sold Howson to Norwich for £2m
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :( :(

Howson seemingly gone, Wigan want McCormack, Bolton want Lees, White will be after that, Clayton approaching the end of his contract...

Last man out of ER turn out the lights.

Some people were talking up the turn around at Newcastle for the past 2 years, making almost every right move possible and saw getting rid of the ridiculously overpaid, over old, wanting a long deal Nolan who isn't anywhere near as good as he thinks......... as a brilliant move.

NOlan, Carroll, Barton, first two one gets out on bail, stays with the others and they have wild parties with drugs involved and lots of girls, when one is married. There isn't anything wrong with people partying, but Newcastle want to be more professional, nothing wrong with that either, that really meant getting rid of the troublemakers, the less professional players and frankly a criminal.

For cool stuff apparently Southampton are bidding for Jordan Rhodes :)

And we've put in another big for Hooper out of Celtic (who are crying tapping up which is silly as we've released nothing about the wages offered and Arsenal did worse on the AOC deal)

It is a disgrace now, Bates needs putting down.

Would hate to be in Leeds position right now, read a rumour the money from the transfer is going basically into Ken Bates pocket instead of the club too :(

How can you possibly forget to include Strola in that list?
