Just checked his recorded on his break though season in 2008 he has managed to score a goal every other game. Would not call that average.
Proved himself in France made the step up to Germany proved himself there. Seems the next step up is England.
Newcastle seem to want youngish, hungry players. Who want to prove them self in a better league.
Get the best years out of them then ship them out.
I believe Tiote has always stated he wants to stay for a few years prove himself then move to one of the massive clubs.
am glad we not overpaying for players who come in on massive wages who have lost the drive to improve.
I just know now not to get to attached to a player as if a silly offer comes in he will be sold.
Yup, the thing well, that is what Moyes should have been doing. Had Everton never paid silly money for Fellani, Yakubu and (at least in wages) Saha, they'd both have far less debt and have had money to bring in some youngsters in there "just before a big move" phase.
Wenger used to capitalise on that, this isn't most businesses. There is ALWAYS another cheap young player who is a very very good player, three four epic deals at least get done a season where you think how did you get that guy for that little. Kompany, Kolo was sub 100k iirc and we got 15mil for him, I can't remember.
Football is business and there are some rich STUPID clubs out there. Keep buying young, keep looking for good deals, and KEEP SELLING. Its clubs who desperately hold on to players too long who end up in trouble, or those buying experienced high wage players by the bucketload who end up in financial trouble. THe ones who keep the team fresh, keep selling players and keep buying do well. Arsenal did that a lot in Wenger's first 6-7 years, and the last 6-7 years buying more expensive players, older players, higher wage players... and winning nothing.
In a year or two you sell Tiote for 25-30mil and buy the next Tiote for 5mil, rinse repeat every 5 years........ win.
If Fat Sam had bought in that years Cabaye, Tiote, Ba instead of Owen, Viduka, Smith........ and other crap... Newcastle may never have got into bad debt, or relegated in the first place.
Thing is if you also establish yourself as that club to go to young to establish yourself and get a move to a top 4 team..... more young players will be more willing to spend a couple years at Newcastle than risk a few years on the bench at a Real, Utd, City. Lets say Hazard was only 10mil, and given the option to go to Utd, Real or Newcastle, normally the first two but with Newcastle you have a decent side, playing attacking football that will give him first team football no question while at Utd/Real he might end up as one of the many who come, stagnate on the bench and end up somewhere crap. Where 2-3 years at Newcastle could get you far more well known, move to a bigger club on a better deal and be first team straight away.
