January Transfer Window 2012/2013 Season Rumours/Signings

The defender from Molde who I was talking about last night now looks like he's Fulham bound

Lampard's agent has said he will be leaving Chelsea in the summer, one would presume if he's going abroad he'll sign a pre contract agreement in the very near future

That's got dodgy Levy deal written all over it
Yeah, that's the same Zeki Fryers who Spurs were interested in over the summer but didn't want to pay Utd's valuation for him. Luckily Fryers signs for a foreign club on a free, so no compensation, and then in the next transfer window signs for.....yup, Spurs. :D

Fryers looks interesting but I don't expect him to be anything but backup/punt.

Am I the only one who doesn't want Villa at spurs. His wages would be huge, he is relatively old and he would cost a lot in transfer fee (for us anyway). I would prefer that we signed a creative central midfielder/forward to make up for the VdV and Modric losses. Use the money there rather than on Villa who would be replacing who? Defoe is free scoring at the moment and Bale has the left side sewn up. I have only ever seen Villa play through the middle or as an inside left forward.

To be honest you need someone more clinical than Defoe, he's done very well against the poor sides but still misses so many.

You need to spend big and get a class striker in now.

Huzzah!! Considering its SSN I take this with a pinch of salt. We'll give Diaby a contract extension now, just you wait

Tbh SSN are usually spot on with their transfer talk/rumours. I do know they had Wenger on SSN ie some reporters were asking him about Squillaci and he did say that there isnt a place for him in the squad plus his contract is up very soon. Hell id take 10p for him at the moment if it means hes gone from our books:p

As for Diaby?? Wenger seems to have a huge hardon for him...the guy hardly ever plays and when he does, its only a matter of time before that douchebag get injured then hes on the injury table for a few yrs before he makes his brief comeback for Arsenal. I do wonder how long his contract is though, knowing Wenger probably a 10 yr contract:p.

DM does make a good point about Djourou, why in gods green earth did Wenger give him a new contract when he cant even get a game unless our starter, backup are injured...its only then he gets a look in:confused: Have to say Wenger makes some stupidly mind boggling contract decisions or if it isnt him...then someone at Arsenal needs their heads looked at.

fryers being signed leads me to believe rose could be staying at sunderland and BAE possibly going to?

i would rather villa or any top notch striker at spurs. remy would've been nice. i am starting to think we should concentrate on a striker more than a creative source for the centre as dembele and sandro are a great partnership. they can destroy, dembele can push on, if we can get balls onto a good striker, we'll score more.

look at our gd compared to others around us, it's a problem. we create chances, we just don't convert them!

i can't see us spending big on moutinho but i can see us pushing for holtby. nothing concrete but it is looking like he will be a summer signing for free which would be nice. though he is young and it would be a lot of responsibility to expect him to come in a and create immediately.

with bale looking likely to be off in the summer, cl qualification or not, it may be time for a re-think on how we play.

The BBC and Daily Mail are reporting that Chamakh has almost signed for West Ham from Arsenal (possibly a loan though)...

Thats the problem right there for Arsenal, we cant get rid of these players so send them out on loans but they are still on our books and im not 110% sure but i think we are still paying their wages:(. One awesome example is Denilson, who is always shipped out on a loan...think hes back in Brazil playing for someone...cant remember but hes one player that springs to my mind.

Id be happy if we got rid of Chamakh and our other players even if it meant we had to take a loss ie buying a player for £10mill but sell him for a few mill. At least it free's up a place so that maybe, just maybe Wenger will buy a class player who deserves the £60k a week rather than paying £60k a week to a player who doesnt deserve it.

I don't think we do create chances. Dembele is excellent at taking the ball out of defence but he doesn't play killer passes. A player who sits just behind Defoe picking the lock of an organised defence would be so useful. Most of our goals have come from defensive errors, counter attacks or defoe shots from the edge of the area. It is quite rare that we create chances that aren't converted.

Our recent performances have seen us have excellent possession but we have ground goals out rather than cut teams to shreds.

i disagree, we create loads of chances. just look at our shots on target ratio from the christmas games and also the amount of times bale or lennon has put a cross in and no one is on the end of it.

we could use a creative midfielder, there's no denying that but is it really worth spending the kind of money required to get moutinho when his best use would be against lesser teams who park the bus and we require a player to unlock a defence?

dembele and sandro should be retained against the top 6 teams to contain and break an attack so we can hit on the counter. this isn't as effective as having a playmaker but it works and is why we find ourselves in the position we are. it's not purely because other teams are losing, we are winning deservedly through determination.

sig has looked better past few games. i'd rather develop him than blow £20m+ on moutinho and get a proven striker. i'd still be over the moon about moutinho but wouldn't be happy at sacrificing the sandro/dembele partnership because of it.

But all our shots on target were from outside the box. These were not shots kept out by wonder saves or the saves as a result of poor finishing.

Also the dembele/sandro partnership wouldn't be broken up. We play variants of 433 at the moment.

but that would mean we resort to one striker? neither of who are being particularly clinical atm. manu has shown glimpses but he's better at creating than finishing from what i've seen recently and defoe has been shooting like there's a gun to his head.

defoe has put a lot away but he's annoyingly one dimensional.

we do need more depth and we do need to prepare for the scenario of losing bale. our bench is pretty lacklustre atm.

don't forget the ACON either, if manu goes, we're screwed, if defoe get's injured then we're relying on dempsey as our attacking front! i wouldn't actually mind seeing how dempsey coped on his own upfront with sig but it's not a scenario i'd be happy with long term.

Could the Fryers deal be down to some sort of other shift and needing to keep the requisite number of young English talent in the squad?

the thing about fryer's, is he's joined spurs' development squad. he may not even cut the mustard for first team! it's a little bizarre as we have paid a little more than i thought we would've done (app it's 3.75m) which isn't mad money but it's a chunk for someone who isn't proven pl quality in all honesty.

be interesting to see how he develops. BAE is decent but wreckless at times and has been rumoured to be sold and his injury is taking a long time to come good, rose looks ok as a sunderland player, not sure if he could be a future spurs player tbh so the lb position certainly needed addressing.

on the holtby thing. app we are getting him on a 'free' next summer due to a pre-contract agreement and he is going to be on over £60k p/w?!

not sure if any of the above is accurate but there's a few reliable people saying the same figures. bonkers but if it plans for the future then i'm all for it. holtby is not concrete yet though.

Spurs have no problems with the quotas whatsoever, to fill the 25 man squad you need only 8 homegrown players (nationality is largely irrelevant) and finding 8 of them is easy:

Bale
Dawson
Naughton
Walker
Lennon
Defoe
Huddlestone
Parker

edit: if you mean by 'other shift' that one of them is leaving then just replace with Livermore or Townsend
