January Transfer Window 2012/2013 Season Rumours/Signings

Great news, I'm sure we'll see him start on Wednesday night, he'll probably get some time tomorrow too :)

Will be interesting if Ba plays. Surely Rafa has to keep playing Torres who is at least looking like he can score now, I know a majority of his goals haven't come against the best teams but he is looking a lot better than what he was not too long ago.

Torres will be 'rested' now, hopefully for a long time too.
If Ba gets goals and wins us games he'll be a starter.
Torres has scored recently but I would in that team, he's still been crap & he can't actually play football. There was an incident v QPR when Hazard received the ball down the wing on the break & Torres ran towards him & with him, it was literally so bad it was funny, he's like an 11 year old at times.
I read something yesterday that without RVP Man.U. would be something like 10th, Liverpool without Suarez would be 16th and Chelsea without Torres would still be 4th, I can't remember the exact placings but you get the idea.
He adds very little and won't be missed if he does have play 2nd fiddle :)

Sounds like it's something in that region, yeah and not as bad as it sounds either. We were committed to paying him another £7.5m in wages if he stayed until the end of his deal. I read DM say that we'd be better off keeping him than paying him off but why? He's beyond useless - even in the couple of games he scored in recently (and people bizarrely said he played well), he was ****. Keeping him would have offered us nothing and cost us an extra £4.5m. It's actually frightening how bad he has become.

Johan Djourou is off to Hannover pending a medical it seems. Chamakh is off too. Just need Diaby, Squillaci, Santos, Fabianski, Mannone and Arshavin to do a disappearing act and I'll be a happy happy Gooner. Would free up close to £250k/week in wages too I'd imagine. Bring back Cesc, get a striker and I'm a super happy man.

From that perspective it's a decent saving but what a disastrous deal all round. We've had a bit of stick in recent years for our transfers but we've dodged a number of bullets at the same time. I remember there was quite a clamour for us to sign Cole but it turned out to be sensible business to give him a miss.

You didn't have the Fernando Torres of finance running your club though. I think when Purslow said that he must have been looking into the future and talking about the Torres of today.

Benitez has said Ba will be ready to play tomorrow. How come Newcastle are reporting that Debuchy is unavailable for tomorrows game?

I thought Ba was unavailable tomorrow too?

I bet the Debu is just a smoke screen so they don't need to play him, he will rest the first team as he will see relegation fight as more important.

It's a catch 22 for tomorrows game.

A win would give the side a morale boost, Debuchy could use the game as a run out to gel with new defence.

On the other hand I agree we need to rest the full starting XI for the Norwich game

I remember saying at the time we let him go how bad he'd become which was sad because I really liked him and he was a great player to watch previously.
He's similar to Torres now, the injuries seem to have really screwed the pair of them up :(
