January Transfer Window 2012/2013 Season Rumours/Signings

lazy money sapping bums who put in no effort at all(Joe Cole)

Hasn't he taken a pay cut to join West Ham? Supposedly they are only paying him £30k/week and Liverpool have halved what they are paying him to £50k/week, so by my reckoning he's losing out by about £1.5m compared to staying at Liverpool. Assuming of course he's got no signing on fee / loyalty bonus or whatever.

Either way gonna be a rude awakening in the final year of his WHU deal as Liverpool are only paying him for another 18 months, so his salary will reduce from £4m/year to £1.5m/year :D

SAF should be reminded of how Berbatov was seen at OT before a fee was a agreed and call it 1-1. :p

you mean like Ba was seen at Chelsea before a fee was agreed this window?

Buying clubs talk to players all the time before the transfer fee is agreed

He left on a free to Standard Leige and I think fergie is trying to say that Spurs had a deal in place with him but didn't want to pay any compensation fee so instead let him go to Standard Liege and then a year later buy him for half of the price that he would have cost in compensation and he has had a year of playing football.

FYI - some articles are suggesting it wasnt totally free to SL (and a small amount of was paid), although effectively you are correct, it was nothing like the £5/6m Utd were after/potential to get direct from Spurs.

Whatever you say Mr Levy.

Whatever you say, Fergie. See, I can do that too .

lol what's right with that?

Dont worry because apparently dodgy dealing from Levy is actually shrewd in the land of Tottenham Hotspur :o:o

If they made a deal with Standard to have them buy him and then they buy from them down the line then you'd have a point, but this is incredibly unlikely. As it stands, there's nothing wrong with what they're doing.

You know you are fighting a losing battle when it comes to Spurs fans because all their players walk to training and Levy is the second coming.

Considering I'm not a Spurs fan I don't see your point.

Actually it's highly likely.... in fact it's exactly what Spurs have done

Well Utd better be able to prove that by showing they conspired all along to avoid the charge.

Lets not forget that he has had all of 5 appearances for Standard and remains a fringe player. There is nothing to stop clubs approaching players if the price is right. By all means if UTD can *prove* a deal was made with standard, then spurs should pay utd a compensation package. Otherwise, its just business and fergie should grow up and get on with it.

He went to Liverpool because they were the highest paying team, not the best, and has put in zero effort, looking for the best deal you can get in the last 18 months of your deal is pretty much standard... better bargaining position for him as he has Liverpool over a barrel, he's due 7.5mil so they'll pay to get rid of him.

As I understand it, and the BBC seem to say, he's getting 50k a week at West Ham, which is 3.75mil(ish) over 18 months + its been reported as either 3 or 4 mil pay off from Liverpool to get him to leave.

But, signing on bonus, bonuses from sponsorship deals actually playing football rather than being basically invisible, appearance bonus at West Ham vs Liverpool will almost certainly be worth more at West Ham playing than Liverpool and barely ever playing.

I'd be surprised if Cole is losing out, and not surprised if he's making a little more, but ultimately playing for the next 18 months rather than not playing puts him in a FAR stronger position for his next potential contract.

oh is it really? what are you basing this on?

it's business, nothing personal toward ferguson, he just see's it that way. if ferguson/united hadn't slapped a ridiculous fee on him, it would be a non issue.

levy is one of the shrewdest/tightest in the business, he just did what he does.

ferguson's just got his knickers in a twist over the berbatofv scenario imo.

he could turn out to be a dud and if you wanted him that badly, why didn't you keep him?

really pleased holtby looks a done deal. freund must've been the deciding factor as arsenal were interested too though i doubt we'll make another bid for moutinho now.

I was surprised it took until tonight before this Fryers stuff kicked-off. It's plainly obvious that Spurs manipulated the laws to get him on the cheap but equally Taggart's "It's a Daniel Levy deal..." comments are hugely hypocritical given the way Utd behaved in the Berbatov transfer.

99% of transfers involve tapping up and underhand tactics, sometimes clubs are subtle about it and sometimes they're not. You can't really complain about it when you're not exactly whiter than white yourself though.

Anyway according to the Times, we're close to signing Nicolas Isimat-Mirin. I have no idea who he is either, other than being a young french CB.
