January Transfer Window 2012/2013 Season Rumours/Signings

Sneijder is waiting before accepting Galatasaray's terms because his agent has told him a bid from a Premier League club is due in the next few days. I've seen this reported in various places and it's been confirmed by Tancredi Palmeri (@tancredipalmeri) now.

I wonder who it could be? Man Utd, Liverpool, Spurs, Arsenal?

QPR, Reading or a shock bid from Stoke?

Probably West Ham though, been throwing bids around a bit now, £2m for Martin Olson (the good Blackburn one not his rubbish twin) which was rejected for being far too small...

Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs can't afford his wages period. Utd, Chelsea and City can. Mancini will be desparate to buy anyone with European experience, Utd need a central midfielder and Chelsea might want a Lampard replacement. City lack people to play well wide and have Nasri, Silva, Yaya who all want to play down the middle, Chelsea have wide players and without Lampard lack anyone decent in the middle and Utd just bought Kagawa and Rooney ultimately drops deep to try and play where Sneijder wants to play.

Can't really see where he'd fit in with any of those teams, and no one else comes remotely close to being able to afford the wages Gala will be offering him. Italian press/fans/his own club all say he's been **** for 2 years, I really can't see any sensible team throwing big wages at a player that hasn't done anything for 2 years. Turks/MLS/Russia will pay anyone remotely associated with success in Europe huge money so thats likely where he'll end up.

This should get DM's blood raging:p. Walcott to sign a new contract worth £90k a week with a £3mill signing on bonus.

Screwing ourselves to keep a guy 1/10th as good as RVP by paying him more than RVP got most of the time he was at Arsenal, genius.

Wenger is a complete **** and I think if Walcott signs the last ounce of respect left over from his successful period in charge will have completely gone.

Walcott IS rubbish, he's put in about 700% more effort in the past 3 months and still looks awful for the majority of every game, a month after he signs he'll be back to his old even more useless couldn't care less self. He's a stubborn moron, RVP/Fabregas were players worth making a stand over, Walcott is not. Lately I'm getting even more ridiculously angry at how unfair the world is, Walcott could make 25million in the next 5 years, while barely trying and being awful because one man is a complete idiot and is throwing the money at him. Dyer has become a millionaire by being injured for the past 10 years... he wasn't very good when he was fit, and he hasn't been fit for 10 years and has managed how many new clubs/contracts/money in that time, its a complete joke.

I've said before, if you pretend that it was some other manager in charge and Wenger took over in 2005 there is no way a manager could be this bad and destroy such an epic squad with such awful replacements while increasing spending pretty much 150% now without having been fired. Chelsea, Barca, City, Utd, Liverpool, Spurs, Real have all gotten rid of managers for doing less badly than Wenger has AND gone on to have success and improve under new managers. Arsenal got rid of a poorly performing manager, got in a new one and had success.... but when Wenger has performed painfully badly.... nothing.

Walcott to become another in a long list of crap players with long contracts that will weigh the club down in mediocrity for years to come. Even if we fired Wenger today, we've got 3-4 years of some turgid players we won't be able to get rid of.

Which translated means he's hesitating on signing with Galatasaray as he hopes a PL side will come in with an offer ;)

Just read Fergie might be loaning out welbeck. Tat would be fantastic. Even better if he could sell him!

Not sure if that will actually happen - as SAF has been saying Utd need 4 strikers , and with Rooney's fitness record this season not being great and RvP's in general (although its been excellent for the last 18 months or so), I cant see him risking that without a striker coming in

Personally cant see Welbeck getting much better than he is now, but I also cant see SAF bringing in another striker either (before the summer at least).
After the suimmer the recent loanee to Wigan comes back into the picture also (Henriquez?)

Sneijder moving to Utd is just more speculation, that ship sailed a while ago imo - even considering the contract dispute currently causing friction

If you could get Lampard on a free and in a decent deal, not a long term contract...

Why wouldnt you?

Can still play well in the premierleague. Not the worst option to have and clubs would be silly not to have an interest.

Yeh you might get a year out of him, or you could get another 3 or 4. Who knows.

Thats not what I said (or even close) so dont put words in my mouth.

I just dont think Welbeck will ever be the quality Utd need

I'm not convinced either but I think that he is perfect for us at the moment. Say we get Lewandowski in the summer. How do we fit him, Rooney and RvP into an attack without dropping Rooney deep. Its very hard (near impossible) to find a top class striker who would be happy on the bench a lot of the time and who could turn it on at will without having played regularly.

I personally think that with Welbeck and Hernandez we have about as good a back up options as we are likely to be able to manage.

You said he dont think he'll get much better than he is now, what he is now is 22 so I'm not putting words in your mouth I'm paraphrasing what you said. You're writing him off at 22.

Cristiano Ronaldo only started putting in consistent performances when he was 21 and that's someone who's now one of the best players in the world, not to mentioned he was given regular starts at that age rather than just the 10-15 minute scraps Welbeck gets (and no before you think about putting words in my mouth I'm not saying Welbeck will ever be one of the best in the world).

Ronaldo always showed considerable talent though, Welbeck hasn't remotely done that. He might me good for a mid table league team one day but I can't see him ever being top table quality.

But if he's happy being fourth choice then fair enough, but we need to get some more wingers so we don't have to stick him out there.

I don't think Welbeck has ever shown anything to suggest that he is going to be a top player.

He had a brief period last season where he looked as if he might be pushing on, but for most of the time he looks completely ineffective.
His last game against west ham sums him up perfectly, he's go some touches, got some pace, but he's got no composure and no idea most of the time.

You can say he's not a winger, but I think playing as a winger is a damn sight easier than playing through the middle, you are most of the time only up against 2 players, you only have to worry about a small part of the pitch, and you have a very specific job, and he just looks clueless at it.

You might think playing as a winger is easier but there's absoloutly no doubt Welbeck's best United performances have been as a striker. Like you said out on the wing he does at times look clueless up front though his work rate and link up play is generally good, obviously he does need to stop being thought of as a work horse with fancy flicks and touches and get in more goal scoring positions and obviously convert them but that will come with age
