January Transfer Window 2012/2013 Season Rumours/Signings

It appears that tomorrow's papers (most of them) are saying Zaha to Man Utd is a done deal.

I don't know if I want him or not. I'd rather the £12m (or whatever) went towards a CM of some description.

People still talking about Lampard to Manchester United? Hilariously short term move, Manchester United's midfield needs to improve and have more movement, pace and dynamism. Wouldn't think any of the 'big' sides would want him.

I called that he would move to the MLS.

GRRR, supposedly Jenkinson turned down the chance to move to Crystal palace on loan.... what the **** is Wenger doing, aside from the fact that Sagna is MUCH worse than Jenkinson was before he was dropped, you send him out on loan and we're left with absolutely no back up at all. Wenger apparently wants Jenkinson to play more... well here's a hint you god damned moron PLAY HIM. Wenger really hasn't got a freaking clue how to rotate players. Frequently players come back from long term injury, like Sagna, and get played game after game till reinjured rather than slowly brought back in like most managers do, and given real breaks now and then.

Jenkinson is the best fullback at the club, one of only 4 first team fullbacks, Gibbs/Sagna have missed more of the past 2 seasons than they've played and Santos is simply woeful and yet he wants to send our only other senior fullback out on loan.

Send away a player who is our best option and hurt the club financially to keep a completely useless Walcott at the club. Another great transfer window looming :(

That's worrying considering he's not that great....

Every so often the Wenger out thing is looking very sensible.

He's much better than most people think, largely as most peoples first real impression of him was a 8-2 drubbing against Utd. He had bad games but is largely let down by a useless **** ahead of him and often poor CB inside him. THis season he was one of our best players till Sagna got back from injury and he was shoved out of the side. He's got a pretty decent cross, plays the overlap well, is quite fast, is strong, is improving defensively/positionally.

You have to remember in his case he's only been in the EPL for a year, new to the team and thrown in at the deep end. Whats most ridiculous is supposedly Sagna wants a big payday for his last contract as he's at that age really(29) while we're unwilling to give him a payrise, so he's looking set to leave soon anyway unless we pay through the teeth for someone who has had two major injuries and is completely and utterly crap in every aspect of his game.

So rather than back Jenkinson, give him plenty of games with the intention he'll be first choice next year, let Sagna leave now while we can get a few mil and look for new left/right back and covering fullbacks.... he seems to want to alienate Jenkinson, back Sagna despite his woeful performances and not do anything.

We supposedly refused a 2.5mil offer for Santos.... does he think he'll get a better offer or does he think Santos is actually worth keeping, in either case I think Wenger has lost his mind.

A mate and his dad who support Charlton were very surprised Arsenal came in for him, neither of them thought he would make it at all. I'v not been desperately convinced from what iv seen, some potential but one of those stand out kids that we should all get over excited about (though I did say that about Clyne both times we played Palace last year so my career as a football scout is already at rock bottom).

I guess my surprise is how unbelievably bad Sagna is, literally the worst RB in the league. The sign for Wengers real madness is when he bids for Frazer Richardson as a replacement...

Sagna's been as bad as he is today, since he came back from injury in his first season(he's more lazy but just as untalented today as then) and in the past two years I think he was named in the team of the season for the league, as well as many Arsenal fans(and some others) claiming he was the best RB in the league. He's been doing the clearances from essentially little danger to right across the middle of the box for 3 years, and I've been saying it for 3 years, yet people only seem to have noticed it this season.

In terms of if Jenks looked good at Charlton, really can't say as I never saw him but, same player in different teams can be completely different. Frankly Jenks looked a different player with AOC ahead of him than Walcott, because one of them puts work in defensively, one doesn't. There isn't a single defender who can do a great job on his own, defending is a team game and Walcott does make that insanely hard as he's insanely lazy and simply bad. A player can suit one team/system and look pretty terrible in another team/system. Complimentary players essentially, you get two excellent players that don't play well together and you get crapness. Two average players who play excellently together can be epic.

Flamini/Cygan/senderos/Lauren simply worked with outstanding performance after performance. Cygan with other defenders would look worse. Squillaci + kos, both look horrendous, kos + Verm, completely different story. There is still a sense of how good a player is as I said at the time Kos has something that I think he'd be good with a different CB while Squillaci just looks ****. But a hell of a lot of fans see a team performance, and the individual performance(which with crap teams and crap defenders will be pretty poor) rather than individual technique.

Fans see completely different things watching the same games and performances. I seem to remember seeing Gervinho scoring 2 in his first preseason game , me calling him abysmal and being laughed at because "he scored 2".. yet everything I highlighted that was his problem from that game is what everyone says about him today.

To be fair, I'm impressed with how much Jenkinson has come on since joining Arsenal. He looked out of his depth last season, but this season he has looked 10x the player. He's probably one of the better plays in the team now tbh.

with manu now confirmed as going to the ACON's i expect, or rather, i hope we buy a striker this window.

i just hope we don't get welbeck on loan.

You said he dont think he'll get much better than he is now, what he is now is 22 so I'm not putting words in your mouth I'm paraphrasing what you said. You're writing him off at 22.

Cristiano Ronaldo only started putting in consistent performances when he was 21 and that's someone who's now one of the best players in the world, not to mentioned he was given regular starts at that age rather than just the 10-15 minute scraps Welbeck gets (and no before you think about putting words in my mouth I'm not saying Welbeck will ever be one of the best in the world).

Ronaldo was also showing flashes of genius even at an early age - Welbeck has never got even close to the quality Utd need

"Improvment" is also a continuous line, he could get one more goal in the same amount of games which is an improvment, but still not close to what Utd need from their strikers

If Reading (for example) get him for a reasonable fee - then 10 goals a season for example wouldnt be too bad

and paraphrasing an obviously different intention is still wrong

Gaetan Bong - Newcastle

Valenciennes president has told the press that we have bid for Gaetan Bong. (will only sell if he can get a replacement) He is a leftback. Could Santon be on his way to Milan? It's rumored he's only coming in as back up.

We are extremely desperate for a new CB now. There are talks that Colo is carrying a knock, Taylor still isn't going to be fit enough the Norwhich game. Perch went off injured at half time, and Simpson has a broken toe.

Apparently we have postponed the extended loan agreement for Dummett to St Mirren. Which goes to prove how woeful Shane Ferguson is, no idea why people rate him.

Anyway, I just hope we don't wait until the summer when Douglas' contract is up, otherwise no matter how good our attack is, we will leak goals in every week.

I rate him :D he is a winger though and not a lb which he plays at times. He's only a young lad but needs to go out on loan imho.

No clue yet in which cb's we are after

Well if you write off most of the Arsenal team you are bound to get one right :p

Wesley Sneijder holding out for a move to the Prem ??

Arsenal should snap him up if they can get him on a reasonable wage. Ready made international player.

Thats the problem, he wouldn't accept a reasonable wage ie he will want at least £100k a week and Arsenal aren't in the habit of paying such wages to any player.

Would be an excellent signing for us if he ever came to us.

I write off less players than most do, I just write off the correct ones.

I can't think of many players I've said were terrible that the majority of fans(and people on here) don't eventually agree with, Song, Sagna, Denilson, Diaby, Gibbs, Hleb, etc. It's not a particularly big list(or wasn't) of players I thought were terrible, and have consistently defended players who got arbitrarily bashed for no reason after Wenger decides to destroy them. Its the few and the persistant players who ruin a team. 3 crap players in key positions can ruin a team with 8 other brilliant players. I think I'm the only Arsenal fan maybe on earth who thought from 2004-2008, maybe 2009, we could have won the league every year if we'd dropped the worst players and played the guys Wenger randomly benched.

I haven't written off, Eboue, Bendtner, Vela, Eduardo, Jenks, Chamakh, Larrson, Bentley, Reyes, Kos(most people entirely wrote him off while playing alongside Squillaci), Clichy(to be fair most Arsenal fans are just showing incredibly bitterness after he left and can't admit he was excellent), Cygan, Senderos, Merida, and any number of realy promising youths who end up with 8 mins a few times a season before being binned 5 years later having given up ever bothering to try.

He's rubbish, wants 200k a week and aside from being the player the media focused on, wasn't Inter's best player, and is currently Inter's worst player.

He has gone on record as saying he hates playing in midfield as its too much work, and then blames the manager when he's played as a striker "i'm not a striker, boohoo me" and he can't score for ****. He scored a few highlights worthy freekicks and goals, in an entire season and randomly got praised for it. He was poor in the 2010 world cup yet people pretend he was the best player. 2-3 tap ins, one half decent goal, created little to nothing, disappeared in the difficult games and got a clear own goal credited to him for no reason.

Ready made international... so is Song, Hleb, Ramos, Welbeck... being an international is proof of the fact that international managers pick whoever is deemed popular no matter how good they really are.

Edu Vargas is going to San Paolo on loan, so no Arsenal for him.

Also, whats the hate towards Sneijder. How many of you actually watch Serie A? He's a great player when played in position and he has showed it countless times. Just because he had a season plagued with injuries and a manager who doesn't play him in position, it doesn't mean he is bad.
