The fact that he's rubbish, in his most injured season he scored basically the same in the league as his best treble season with Inter. In his treble year he scored 4 in 84 shots in the league, and 3 in 32 shots in the UCL... does that sound epic, or not even that good? Reason Sneijder didn't win the player of the year, Messi got 34 in 163 shots thats 1 in 21 vs 1 in 4.9. Scored 49 in all comps vs 9, and both effectively playing as a second striker/playmaker/attacking midfielder role.
His goals/assists per start isn't too bad, but he's averaged what, 18-19 starts a season in the league over the past 4-5 years, he's scored 4 and got 5-6 assists in each of his last 3 seasons while he hasn't played over 30 league games in basicaly 6 years.
200k a week for a guy who is ineffective, selfish and plays significantly less than most other top players, who his club is trying to get rid of and is perfectly happy to go to Turkey for big money rather than try hard in a top league says everything I need to know about him frankly.
Does he score loads to help the team, no, does he have a great assist rate, no, does he play a lot, no, does he work really hard, no, does he inspire or lead the team, no, does he help defensively, not in the slightest. What exactly makes him great?
You do know that if you sum up Sneijder it would be, guy who shoots a lot, doesn't score a lot and likes to play behind a striker passing and not defending at all.... in what way would he be a play B when he plays the same position, in the same was as Santi, but is less effective? Sneidjer isn't a battering ram, he isn't brilliant and running through the defence like Messi then scoring, he is a typical Cazorla style play, not remotely different. A plan B would be Chamakh, or some actual pacey wingers who can beat their man and whip in crosses, or you know, something different to what we have, not more of the same.
