It's a shame things didn't work out better though. On paper it seemed a great deal; a hugely talented player in need of games and a natural fit into how we were going to play. I'm not sure he fancied the fight though (rumours that he refused to play with a broken nose) and as a result I don't think Rodgers trusted him in his favoured deep lying midfield role. He had a couple of decent performances but other than that, games seemed to pass him by.

Maybe had he been our player we could have persevered with him, in the hope that he'd adapt but it didn't make sense with him only on loan.

How many games did I watch, plenty, in Europe I thought he was only good in 2-3 games I saw, from the league I watched a half dozen games and didn't see a single great performance and in the world cup almost every game and he did very very little.

Mourinho said he was one of his best players. The other players say he was one of the best of the team. Everybody says he was a class player. But you decide to deny it.

Lamela scored 4 in 36 appearances for River Plate as a wide striker. He came to Roma, and scored 14 on 43 (10 of them this season). Who said player's can't improve.

And Sneijder does not play second striker, but AMC (which is VERY different. If you think they are the same you are stupid)

8M is a good price for Sneijder. His wages are a bit too high, but I feel 8M is a steal.

Where did I say he played second striker ONLY and secondly, yes he did play as a second striker on many occasions, Sneijder complained about it..... which is an odd thing to do if you've never done it.

Lamela improved somewhere, big whoop, Sneijder has moved to and trained at several of the best clubs in the world, and is still scoring 4 a season. Secondly, Mourinho has said ALL of his players are amongst the best and ALL players team mates when asked say player X,y, z is one of the best they have played with.... because players don't make a habit of going round saying, "Sneijder, yeah, he's total gash.... its a bit weird I'm saying this as I'll have to see him in training tomorrow and the foreseeable future, but why not badmouth him".

Once again I'll point out that, lots of the worst players at every team have had the same thing said about them... making it absolutely obvious as hell that this is basically politeness rather than reality. Half the Arsenal players have said it about Song, and half the Barca players have made a point of when asked talking about being really excited Song signed for them, platitudes are just that, nothing more or less, don't **** where you eat is a saying for a reason.

In your great defence of the player, you haven't mentioned the player and football, you mentioned Mourinho, his team mates, another player who improved somewhere which is completely irrelevant and.... couldn't bring yourself to point out one thing he does so much better than anyone else, or what he brings to the team.

Always says a hell of a lot to me when someone defends a player by not remotely mentioning how the player plays football ;)

His last two clubs have been desparate to get rid of him after becoming lazy and useless and severely underperforming. Its pretty simple, I watch his performances, see what he offers. Michu scored 17 last season, cost 2mil, plays either AMC or striker, and has provided also on very low wages. Sneijder getting 4-5 goals a season in the same position, few assists, lazy, can't play 30 league games a year and the ONLY people to harp on about how brilliant he is are current team mates and manager? 8mil is 8mil too much because the 200k is minimum 5 mil a year too much money for him, even when he has a "great" season, if he doesn't, 200k becomes closer to 8mil a year too much.

To cap it off, he's going to go prove his worth in... Turkey unless someone in the EPL wastes money on him, no one in La Liga wants to, his current team don't want to, no one else in Italy wants to. Rather than take a wage cut and prove he's worth something in a proper league he's going to go to a crap league and get paid... sounds like a player who will work really hard to get back to form doesn't it.

Seems we after tomkins been after him a whole but got turn down before. Rumour prob carries a lot of weight.We prob need two cb's now to let colo gets his head straight. I do love s.taylor but the guy just can't make a full season he picked up lengthy injurys past 3 or 4 seasons.

He due back next week.

It's never dull being a newcastle fan... Loads of players due back in the this month then get hit with a bombshell...
 
Leonardo Ulloa is at the Amex today apparently. Never heard of him, but a bit of a look around seems to suggest he is alright. I would have preferred an established Championship player though tbh. Looks like he can win a header which is the main thing

My dead grandmother is better than perch and Williamson!

Tomkins is young and fairly decent, fairy quick, good tackling and marking just poor positioning (which is almost an achievement for a cb). Step um from perch and Williamson, though probably will come under pards being unable to rate cb's properly (he thought Aaron martin would go far for us when he is just a champ cb really)
 
CMS wasn't even in the squad today...looks like he might be off then.:(

At the game they were saying that he was at Carrow Road, but that is just a rumour. I don't know if there is anything in it.

North Stand Chat seem to think Norwich will pay close to 4m for him....TAKE IT.....TAKE IT NOW!!!!!

Depends on the price and wages with Sneijder. Cheapish transfer fee and close to 100k/week and it would be a good signing for anyone despite what DM says. I have my doubts that that is realistic though.
