A fair few of the rags were reporting in a while back:

http://www.express.co.uk/sport/foot...ign-new-Chelsea-deal-or-be-stuck-on-the-bench

I think it originates from Marca.

Courtois signs a new contract..... and is at Chelsea's mercy for an extended period, in which case he could face sitting on the bench for say 4 years if that is how long it's extended. Or face sitting on the bench for two years, it's not much of a threat is it. If you don't sign this contract we'll bench you for 2 years, if you do sign it, we might bench you(less purposefully) for 4 years.

In a couple years if CHelsea refuse to deal he can move on, sign a huge contract and be free of Chelsea and on a free transfer. If Chelsea do a deal now they could get feasably, Buffon money, he's probably worth 30-40mil at least, potential to be the best keeper for the next 15 years.... if Chelsea bench him they throw away that + 5mil extra in wages.

There is no chance of Chelsea benching him to see him leave on a free, and the threat is empty as it merely gives the chance for CHelsea to bench him for even longer.

I'd be shocked if you rotated the 2 keepers and Courtois decision on signing a new contract is solely up to him.

I have no idea whether Chelsea will try to pressure him into signing a new deal, I just mentioned what's being reported. However I do believe that you've got a decision on your hands this summer regarding your keeper. I can't see him extending unless he's made number 1 and I can't see you not selling him if he doesn't extend.

I think we agree on whether Courtois's future is up to him, if we don't then we must have our wires crossed somewhere. :)
I agree with the decision is needed but I also think that decision has already been made, along with which striker we're getting. :)

He's too good for that kind of stuff.
Chelsea will want him long term.

3 goals 5 assists on espn(they don't count penalties as assists like other sites so I presume the 6th would be him being fouled and someone else taking the penalty.

What you failed to say was, 3 assists came against a Villa C team in the cup, 2 goals and 2 assists came in Europe against Anzi, who aren't a huge spending team, but in relegation zone in the RUssian league after firing the manager and half the team, and Tromso, and Dinamo Tbilisi.

He has a single league goal from 20 shots, no assists and the goal was against a truly awful Fulham.

None of that says "success". He only started 6 games in the league, he didn't score or assist on any of his starts. He was yanked off at half time against City(injury or for just being **** I don't know).

His stats are rubbish, padded out against truly woeful European teams and Villa played a reserve team in the cup. I didn't see him look remotely useful once in his entire time at Spurs frankly. AVB barely played him last year, or this year, 2 assists last year in the league for Spurs, where he only had four starts because AVB didn't seem to really like him either, and AVB wasn't exactly starting or relying on him this year either. Sherwood moving on a pretty useless player, Fulham picking up another one.

So what you're saying is that he was responsible for 8 or 9 goals in a team that didn't score after January except from Vale wonder strikes and couldn't buy a goal with £100m early this season? :)

He is good, he will become better and we will regret selling him if we do after this loan. His link up play with Eriksen and Soldado was one of the rare glimmers of hope earlier this season under AVB, he can play passes between the lines and has a terrific engine.

G|mp - what is Larnell Cole's actual position? Is he held in high regard at Utd? What sort of player is Tunnicliffe in terms of comparison to someone? As long as he's better than Darron Gibson...
