Job interview over the phone

Sorry to send this thread off topic a bit, but why do some employers feel the need to do a credit check on you? I've never understood this.

Are you serious!? Telephone interviews are a perfectly valid way of screening candidates before a face to face meeting.

I was also confused about this myself, I've never heard of it so if anyone has an answer feel free

I dont think they realised that it is a job that involves me being on a telephone so therefore they will need to see what im like on the phone

Cheers, don't want to hijack the thread though, but I'm applying for IT Graduate schemes. Just had one with a corp giant. They asked me nothing about the company, which was pretty strange!

Some companies you need to be a person of good credit, banks are one of these.
Even if it's just to work in IT

Just received my email to say that all went well in the telephone interview and that I have been selected to progress into the next stage of the recruitment phase which is know to go to the assessment center. I will be receiving more information shortly to let me know when and where this will be taking place

Thanks and will do. As soon as i find out the date for the next assessment I will allow you all to know
