After my sickness last year and various other up's and down's working for Morrison's I have now started looking for a new job again. I didn't get the one I went for last year due to travel issues and the wages they offered so I have now gone for a new approach. Back to basics and local.
Crawshaws butchers are opening a new store in Derby Westfield centre soon and I have got an application form in front of me all filled in and ready to go. The Butchery supervisor at my Morrison's store has already got a job there and starts in 3 weeks after his notice has run out at M. I work with him at M and also at Dewhurst many many years ago where we started out butchering together.
No particular position I'm going for but my application form does lean towards the management side of things, as after all, I am a manager currently on the fishbar. According to my butcher mate, at the interview they said everyone is on same wage/salary for the first 3-4 weeks and the head people will decided who fits what role as in, who's good enough to be manager, supervisor general butcher etc.
The wage is, If I remember right, is £7 odd and hour and 'sky's the limit' for the manager. Contracted to 43 hours a week but work 50 as its a 7am-5pm shop with overtime for any hours worked over 43! so you always get overtime. They also have a cafe attached to the butchers shop. Something new there. I would also be interested in that.
An added bonus is I was phoned whilst filling in the application form by a recruitment company head hunting for fish AND butchery manager at a Nottingham based Wholesalers. They are getting back to me later with salary details.
Looking good so far..
