Jobs and renting a house.

Is that £800 with bills? Or just rent? Bills will no doubt add a few hundred quid on, especially with 4 blokes in a house.

Personally, live a little. By all means, try and find an IT Job, but quite frankly in the short term go and find ANYTHING to get the bills paid, you can always leave if something more permanent comes along. Just apply everywhere, and don't wait for replys, you can always say no to offers

Based on £850 pcm, they almost fully furnish the house with the necessary things like cabinets, beds, chairs, tables etc.. And taking into account £240 per month for total house bills, it'd be 15 quid a week per person, with assuming £1000 council tax, it'd be £6.40 a week if 3 people are paying it.

It's not 4 blokes, just me and 3 girls, or possible 2girls 2 guys but that's very unlikely at the moment.

I don't know about applying for housing benefit, is that done on the direct.gov site? Do I only decide to apply for that when I know I am moving?

I assume as soon as I get a job from that moment the housing benefit would stop, of if it's in process would not come through anyway?

I'm not a big spender as well, the most I currently spend in a week is £50, usually it's around £15 on food and that's it, maybe the odd inner tube for my bike as I cycle everywhere.

Get a job in 3 months? In real life terms, it shouldn't be that hard.

Naturally it's quite hard to do that at the moment

but that might mean 3 months on zero income. plus a month to get your first wages. not sure straight out of uni i could cope with no cash for 4 months! rent to pay and all that.

I worked there for nearly 2 years, it was brilliant. I got free bacon and chicken nuggets, free food when I wasn't working and just arsed around the entire time.

Really quite an enjoyable job, I enjoyed life a lot more back in those days.

I'm going to apply to JSA tonight online.

I've applied for an E-Commerce type job today that sounds excellent, going to keep looking and in the next few days going to print my CV off and go round bike shops and computer shops.

I'll second this, did it for 2 and a half years full time and it was much more enjoyable than my current job.

I have to admit, I'm scared of getting into a job. I must be thick because I worry I'm going to do something wrong and get told off and sacked or I won't know how to use something as presumably simple as a till.

So you have finished uni? When do you get your grades, its just the graduate jobs will be conditional on your grade you get so until then those jobs will take a while to come about. End of the day if you want to be independent then get any job you can to pay your bills. Just don't get stuck in a rut, keep your sights and expectations high (I didn't so please don't make the same mistake)
