I havent posted my own pics in here in a while so I thought I may as well post a couple that I got today while at manchester airport, I took the car out for a spin and the camera, I havent used the camera for about 6 months so it was suprising to find out how much I had forgot about how to get some decent plane pics.

Anyway, just 2 at the moment, I have about 100 to sift through so I might post some more later on.

As you can see the weather was beautiful so anyone leaving manchester today on the left hand side of a plane got a view they will never forget, a topless lukechad

Haha topless Luke eh. If you do the same on Friday the 19th around 11am I'll see you. Of course I'd prefer a topless cheerleading squad ;) Cool pics though. Love the heat distortion.

Thanks for all the comments, and yes, its from a Kodak compact :)

The horizon is a bit of a problem for most of the shots taken there, you dont know where to take the angle from, if the horizon itself is level then the plane looks like its climbing a hill, so I try to get a bit of both, the plane looking alright and the horizon as level as possible.

I had to compensate for the bright sunshine with a lower exposure setting which turned the sky a horrible black colour which I dont like, but at least the subject looks the right colours.

I will get some more sorted asap and post them :)

They are indeed. I have never been to this location before, but its perfect, all the big stuff leaves in the mornings, the sun (if its out) is behind you and they are really close, perfect.

I submitted the photos posted here into a well known aircraft picture database, jetphotos.net, and all of them were rejected :/ Reasons were either "Too much noise" or "bad quality" Ah well, if they dont want them then I can just enjoy them myself.

Must try out that spot the next time I'm down in that neck of the woods.

I wouldn't worry about the rejections, it seems that both jetphotos and airliners.net are getting rediculously pernickity about what they let in to the point that all they do admit are virtually identical (but technically perfect) photos with little or no artistic merit.

As you say, enjoy them yourself or post them here.

No this isnt the aviation viewing park, thats for noobs, you have to treck through the woods for the best spots at manchester :p

Almost directly opposite the viewing park there are some mud ramps with a perfect close up view of the other runway, you can see in this image just what a view you get....

If you are on the side of the aeropark then, carry on down the main A road and go under both runway tunnels that are there, you will come to an island, take the first exit up a tiny little road, you will see a gate but the road carries on. Park up where its convenient to and walk up that hill and you will see to the right where loads of people walk (just over the barbed wire), thats one location.

If you come back to the bottom and the gate, you will notice a footpath which bends up a hill, follow that path to the fence at the perimiter of the airport, follow the perimeter fence about 20m and there is a gate, go up there and keep walking along the top of the hill and you will come to a flat topped hill area, thats where I was stood and thats where you will get the best views.

I hope these instructions are easy enough to follow.

I have labelled up your map with where the planes are taxiing and where I was stood when these pics were taken.
