some shots i took on a day out last year and never got round to actually doing anything with, just dumped them in a folder and forgot about them:

Carl zeiss 135mm F3.5, wide open and tack sharp ( my mum would probably say too sharp

)

Probably my best shot with the kit lens ever lol, for once it actually came out reasonably!

Would you believe this was outside on a bright summer day? i used flash bounced off of a piece of paper down onto it, and stopped down so much / used so much flash that ambient light was none apparant! Canon 35-80 with front element removed.

Just thought i'd share

That number two is probably one of the sharpest shots i've seen come from the kit lens, and the bokeh on that is also fantastic. Really nice

Lovely the daisy Tom. Something very different about it. It's not just a "pretty white" daisy. Loads of texture and you can see all the bruises on the leaves. Love it!

That's what made it stand out for me as well, along with the fact it looks studio when it's actually outside in bright daylight

Light's nigh on perfect for me in that. You're right, it looks like a studio shot.

loving the daisy pic

I found I could use a similar technique in my back garden in strong sunlight to achieve a similar effect with the sigma 70-300 super duper macro jobby

I think it looks a little yellow now

I'd already warmed it up and played with even more warming (like you), but prefer it as it is in the OP

I do like yours though, looks more film like as though a daylight balanced film has been used inside
