Customer service usually sucks, one operator passing you to the next no-one is really interested in helping you out they just want to get shot of you asap, had several bad experiences over the past few weeks but then two company's have given me hope.

E-mailed MX5parts asking about a turbo manifold, they don't stock the part I need so gave me the address and contact name of another Mazda site.

http://www.performance5.com/

Spoke to a guy called Phil who is a true MX5 nut, told him what I'm after and he just laughed 'oh dear' in other words slippery slope lad, got chatting about the finer points and pitfalls of turboing a 5, he answered loads of questions I had, such a nice chap, all in all we talked about what I needed to do and what to watch out for, 20mins later I have a huge smile on my face, someone to speak to about any problems I face or questions.

Can MX5 ownership get any better, I didn't think so but ppl like this prove to me its a great car to be a part of.

Anyone else just about lost faith to find a company or individual who proves good customer service still exist?

And why have we not been speaking about this in RL :(

I feel like you don't love me anymore tbh, so yes, i'm losing my faith in you :( ;)

did you not know about p5? and you call your self a mx-5 owner - i dunno ;)

tis great when companys recomend people who are essentially their compentiors in many ways :-)

And phil is renouned in mx-5 circles as being THE guy in the uk to talk to with regards FI, or infact just general 5 tuneing - pretty sure Will (freefaller) spoke to him RE his install - or may have even taken it there to get done

i think that if you ever want GOOD ACCURATE customer service with cars you really need to stay away from dealers and regular garages, hunt around for a specialist garage for your car because you can pretty much guarantee that not only will the know what they are on about but have a passion for the cars aswell.

A friend of mine was having trouble with his Corrado VR6, a VW dealers wanted nearly £800 to fix it, one of the specialist guys fixed the problem for something silly like £68.

*Hangs head in shame* - i know, should have known these things, still very good guy to know, looks like i'm going FM Manifold & Downpipe / T25 / EMU / Boomslang / Intercooler rest to be sorted.

He will also tune my EMU which is great, just got to get it to him off boost :(

I'll get me coat.

You guys are soo bad, turboing your cars already!!! I must say it would be handy when executing overtaking manoovers.. I find the standard five adequate in the power stakes but it would be great to have a bit more power to quickly blast past the dross.

I talked to Phil earlier this year ref replacement steering wheels, incredibly helpful chap. Pleasure to deal with.

Once i've got 200bhp / ton i will be happy, car goes very well at the moment but just needs a little extra help doesn't really pick up till 4,500, got told today not to go the T25 route flange on the turbo i was after is wrong so now i'm on a S13 hunt!

seems to me this topic should be put to Freefaller who, unless i'm very much mistaken, had his MX5 turbo'd.
He certainly did, and it's one of the most grin-inducing cars I have ever driven.

It always makes me smile when people have a go in it and think it is so good. :) It really makes it even more worthwhile.

I'm on about 183 bhp/tonne at the moment - so I'm getting close to my 200 target. After the few other tweaks I should be over 200bhp at the fly, I was close at the RR day, and even then it wasn't running perfectly.

Ooooh I could spend so much money.... :o

Friend had a go in mine the other week, loved it to bits said he can't even begin to describe how direct the steering felt and the car just did as you expected, he keeps calling me a bad man cause he wants one now ;)

I know about the money spending situation my list keeps on growing and growing, ah well you only live once :)

Have to say the more I drive it the more I love mine. The thrill for me is way the car seems to respond to your every command and encourages you to really pile thru the corners in a quick but precise way (compared with the Xantia! :p ). Completed some 900 miles at the weekend on our road trip with only 10 minutes hood up time. Very noisy on the motorway but who cares?! The new hydragrips have also been a massive improvement over the firestone fuel savers which whilst perfectly legal were hardly amazing. Next job for me is to get the camcover gasket and o ring done. Then perhaps sort out that crumpled wing. Both these jobs have been on the cards since I bought her in feb but I've just been too busy working or driving her!
