just arrived..my personal review of 3870x2

you'll use a heck of a lot of electricity doing that though ???

GPU-Z -reckons

idle 5A
load 28A

ok - I don't belive those two figures, but relatively its a factor of 5 power difference !

like having 4 bulbs on all the time !

Should i have changed the low power 3d volts to the high power ones aswell? Could that be the problem?

Yes, low power 3d volts need to be same as full 3d volts if they are at the same clocks.

You shouldn't need to edit the 2d clocks at all.

Yeah i think i should have adjusted the volts on the low power 3d clocks plus the clock speeds. Thanks for the advice though, much appreciated.

Ive got a separate gaming rig and its only on when im gaming, so for the moment its a decent solution.

Just finished installing mine and my first impressions are.....

IT'S LOUD

Its hot!!!

Not had chance to run any benches yet. Certainly looks very nice but the noise and heat when loaded are a little concerning.

one quick query ...

anyone tried 16xFSAA ?

I have with Lock-on ... and get smooth frame rates !! -BUT desktop goes "dark" ie brightness output by card DVI slot is noticeably less !

Hi mate,
Just installed mine and I would agree about the noise.

The word is to lock the fan at 45% via Rivatuner.

I bought fornowagain X2 and this is what he did.

I have rivatuner profiles to keep it a bit cooler, up to 45% I can't hear it in game, its not loud generally unless you run the fan too high. With 45% it gets to about 70C at the 878/1910 which I thought was pretty good.

45% is loud I find, in games mine never seems to go abouve the 38% setting, which while audible isnn't annoying.

That IS very impressive to be at that temperature at that fan speed . Keep up the good work in your testing Asgard as I'm watching and pondering just now. I've got a GTX and 2900Pro that could fund this move without cost to me and I'm tempted. Roll on with the testing and roll on the 8.3 drivers!!!!.

Don't suppose anyone here can confirm triplehead2go compatibility? I've tried the usual channels and ATI and Matrox are both pathetic at direct customer relations...
