Ok so for the last two days I've been serving a ban now and due to hearing nothing from the mods privately I thought I might get a response bringing my grievances public...

Since I've started selling items in the Members Market I've been handed 3 bans, the first was due to a bump on a thread, the second was for attempting to sell OEM software and the third and latest was for having 5 open threads in the Members Market.

Now in terms of my first ban it was a perceived thread bump but I took it with a pinch of salt and got on with it, although I firmly believe a note/warning from the mods/admin would have sufficed, in terms of my second ban I had actually had interest in the items for sale before I got handed my marching orders so I obviously wasn't the only one that was unaware that the permitting of the sale of OEM software was not allowed so again maybe a warning and a close of thread would have been diplomatic way of dealing with things but again I got on with it without moaning however this latest I have to say has got my back up....

Firstly the way suspensions/bannings are handled, no email notification to let me know why I've been banned, I have to find out by trying to reply to a thread/post, this to me is a very cowardly and arrogant way of handling things.

Secondly the reason for the ban - Having 5 open threads when only 2 are allowed, common sense would have shown that apart from the 2 most recent threads all the others included since completed business or at least threads that had since had no recent activity so were for all intensive purposes were dead. Effectively then I was handed a ban for not closing 3 threads

Thirdly I'm in the process of buying a house and although that is no one else's problem banning me during me having an active thread could have cost me money that I needed and again for such a minor offence is ridiculous with this in mind I contacted the staff outlining the above with a hope for some understanding and a reprieve and did not receive one reply (hence why I've started this thread).

People will point to reading the Members Market rules before starting a thread such as this and moaning about suspensions/bannings but in truth the rules regarding other matters on this forum are such a grey area I don't believe that this is a viable get out clause.

Since being part of this forum I never once got into any serious arguments, abused any other forum members or done anything to warrant being removed from the forum but alas sit here with 3 suspensions to my name all for things that a simple written warning highlighting what is frowned upon would have straightened out.

This is honestly not an attempt to cause trouble but purely to get some intake from the mods/admin and other forum users.

Thanks for your time :)

Although the mods can be quite harsh on the rules, it does keep the MM running well, after all the rules are pretty clear.

Re-ban tbh.

Why? For daring to ask a question? I went the private route and got no answer. I wasn't even notified as to who issued the ban, if I had I would have contacted them directly to keep things private.

permaban for this thread to be honest, you read the rules you obviously cant stick to them so what makes you better than everyone else that has had their MM removed for 3 bans?

Members Market is a privilege and not a right, this is what you seem to be forgetting, If this is revoked that I know personally 3 or 4 people who would also be wanting MM bans removed.

Busy forum, lots of moderating and I would imagine it is much more effective getting the message accross with suspensions and bans, so everyone knows the rules and exactly how they will be enforced, rather than fiddling around giving people slaps on the wrist when they may well not take notice of such slaps.

It is also fair to treat everyone in exactly the same way like this. Harsh, but fair and it works.

Quite frankly, this isn't a democracy and this isn't an organisation with appeals in place. You pay sweet fa for the forums, and the mods/Spie have no obligation, legal, moral or otherwise to justify any of their actions. The mods put in a massive effort - particular in MM. So STFU or GTFO.

The rules in the MM are at the top of every forum, they are very plain to see. The MM is also a lot of work to keep a safe place and all of the rules are there for a reason. If you don't read and understand the rules then that is you fault and your responsibility. All of the MM Dons spend a lot of time making sure the rules are enforced fairly and consistently as much as possible. We don't make exceptions for people who can't be bothered to read the rules. The vast majority of people use the MM totally within the rules and have a good experience. Why should we make exceptions for you?
