Just signed up to become and organ donor, something I've been meaning to do for ages but kept forgetting.
From the intial google search to completion took under 5 minutes! It was a really simple and to the point form, which obviously makes the whole process much easier.
Just like to say if you've been putting it off go do it now! That is of course if you agree with it,dont feel Im pestering people to do it. If you dont agree with organ doning, why not?

EDIT- Just realised its meant to say became not become in the title! Im an idiot

Im a donor, although not for all my organs, just kidneys, lungs and liver i think, although I can't recall exactly. Im terrified of needles in everyway and find it impossible to give blood, so as far as i'm concerned this is the best way for me to give soemthing back to those who I can help. When I'm dead I dont need them so maybe I can help give life to somebody else.

Well worth it I'm already a donor and give blood when I can which isn't very often due to cuts and my job. Although that might change now I'm not doing so much manual labour.

I'm registered as an organ donor too; for all my organs. Make sure you tell your family/friends about this decision, it can save a lot of potential aggro once your time comes.

I signed up a few months ago after another thread on organ donation, took a couple of minutes to fill in the online form and that was it. The donor card and letter took 1 or 2 months to arrive (can't remember the exact time, it was a while though).

I don't see a reason not to be an organ donor, should be an opt out scheme imo. I don't know about anyone else but I just don't think I'll need them when I'm dead.

Already discussed it with my mum, shes of the philisophy that when she dies "cut me up for what you need and bury me in a cardboard box" and my girlfriend was the one who kept reminding me to do it so should be all fine

I'm a registered also and carry the card. However my missus doesn't agree with it (it is the subject of many an argument ;) ) so I can see there being trouble if I do pop my clogs!

Nope I remember my parents getting me to this when i was younger removed myself and all my details ages ago. No one is cutting me up atfer I die unless it's for an autopsy

So you don't mind a pathologist removing your organs, dissecting them and weighing them - but you don't want someone to use them to stay alive

someone want's to give me something I will take it, that does not however mean I have to give mine away. and as for the autopsy that would obviously only be required if I died of unknown causes.

Make no mistake I am not about to sit hear and by lectured by a bunch of do gooders. I decided along time ago and am not about to change my mind so please dont bother trying. meh

I'm a Donor.

But not planning on letting anyone have them anytime soon:p

In my state, when you get your Drivers licence and fill out the paper work there is an option to tick a box on there to become a doner or not.

It gives lazy people an easy way to become one:)

It should be compulsory to donate TBH.

I thought they slash almost every one up these days?:o

Does being a donor help get you further up in the line of receiving an organ if you need it?

It should if it doesnt

Bit selfish of you to just take out of the system though imo. Would it change your mind if you needed an organ and felt awful all the time from renal/liver failure and would be put nearer the top of the list if you were a donor? Curious btw, not trying to lecture you or change your mind.
