by my mum this morning of my birthday.

I went to take her out for lunch as aranged and she just lost her temper at me as she suddenly just wanted to stay home and work on a book shes writing! She ended up totally ignoring me trying to spend time with her.... but would screem at me ever few mins to help her do something on PC... so I had to leave and hand her birthday present back to her.


Feel really bad :(
 
Thats really harsh...

How long has she been like this? Is it likely to be linked with any stress related to the book?

She gave me my card and pressent all good - I thanked her and gave her a kiss - we talked for a mo - then my phone rang (my girlfriend) to wish me happy birthday - was on phone for about 5 mins... then my my mum started screaming at me to come and help her at once.... she was back at PC and thats where she stayed....

If I tried to talk to her she would say "DONT DESTURB ME!"

It was after reminder her we ment to be going for lunch - and got a "DONT YOU SEE IM WORKING!!!!" I said why are you being nasty to me? Im trying to do something nice for you on my birthday but you just throwing it all back in my face"

Thats when she lost it at me totally!

I take it this is out of character for your Ma? Maybe something's upset her.

I know it sounds a bit Oprah but have you tried talking to her?
 
Remember Mum's are human as well, they say things they don't mean and lose their temper, go and give her a big hug and tell her you love her.

And tell her if she wants to talk you're willing to as well.

Communication is needed in any relationship. :)

Sorry but if that's true, then that's strange. To go from being nice to you, and screaming at you at the click of a finger is strange. Something must have happened during those few minutes in order to trigger that. People don't just go mental like that, unless they are actually mental.

Are you absolutely sure you're telling us everything?

What was the conversation? Maybe she thought you were being rude by answering the phone and flipped.

How does she get on with your girlfriend?

EDIT: Oh and chin up mate, one of the biggest lessons you learn growing up (and saying you are not ;) ) is accepting your parents are not infallible.
