Ive just picked up a 2nd hand game cube (my 2nd, had a jap/us one years ago!) and seeing as the games are so cheap thought I'd go on a bit of a spree. Anyone got an 'must have' games I should be looking for?

So far I've got Eternal Darkness (£15 from GAME) on my list along with Resi Evil. ONly game I got today was Metroid Prime.

So, any good (mainly multiplayer) games?

Cheers

Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door - Not multiplayer but a great game. Its getting more rare to come by too now.

Pikmin
Pikmin 2
Resident Evil Zero as well as RE4
Legend of Zelda:The Windwaker

I've never played a Resi Evil game, and see there's a fair few on the cube. Which order do I need to play them in?

From this thread: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17578122&highlight=good+gamecube

My post, still applicable:

Posted in another one of these threads, appreciate some have been said:

F-Zero GX
Res Evil Remake/Zero and 4 (the best)
Monkey Ball 1 & 2
Metroid Prime
Animal Crossing
Zelda: Wind Waker
Super Mario Sunshine - second best 3D platformer
Viewtiful Joe

Not great but v.good:
Ikaruga (US or Japanese Version if poss)
Mario Kart Double Dash - fine multiplayer
Mario Golf (although not as strong as the N64 version, I sense the same as Tennis, 7/10 territory)
Mario Party (Any) for multiplayer fun again

I'd add since then:
Warioware Inc. Mega Party Games - V.good
And for an lovelly although can be shortlived game: Luigi's Mansion
Killler 7
P.N.03

You may not get on with the Capcom two above. I also have bought Mega Man X Collection (NTSC Only), but have struggled with this one.

If you want to do it in strict order of release:

RE > RE2 > RE3 > RE:CV > RE0 > RE4

If you want to follow the story then start with RE0 onwards - although it ain't necessary. That said what ever you do I'd recommend not playing RE4 first, because it's difficult to return to the earlier games after this. Not impossible, just difficult. It did so much advancement for the series.

Cool, cheers matey.

Anyone know where I can get a cheap replacement (clear if poss) case? This one's a bit battered. If I can find one cheap enough I'll swap it over, else I might just spray the thing. For £35 I'm not too bothered if I make a mess :)

There are plenty of third party cases that allow you to use standard sized DVD media (have no idea why, honest guv!) and iirc they aren't too expensive.

Mario Party 5/6/7 dont bother with 4 it's not a patch on those 3 in my view, excellent party games, dull single player games though!

Tony Hawks 4 is a pretty fun game. Not everyone's cup of tea but I like it.

Metroid Prime is probably the best game on the system for solo play.

Smash Brothers is THE party game.

F-zero GX is possibly the hardest game I've played (not played Ikaruga, can't find a copy). Very rewarding when you succeed.

Most of my recommendations have already been listed, either in this thread or the numerous other 'I've bought a Gamecube, what game threads?' but one game that has kept my busy for hours over the past month is Def Jam Vendetta Fight for NY. Good fighter with an enjoyable story/backfill.

Well I've just given metroid a go. I'll have to have a look at changing the controls as I really can't get used to the holding left trigger to focus on things. Is it possible to make the right yellow control thing (that's the technical term!) control the view, like every other FPS I've ever played?

GSXRMovistar: Is it possible for you to give me a source? Not bothered about the full size disc thing, just want something that looks nicer.

Both Metroid Primes are really really good.

ID also recomend a rather unusual but nevertheless great game that is pikmin 2 :D
