Just bought a new toy - Floorpod

Now some of you are thinking "dmpoole buying an all in one effects unit, what a contradictory old fool he is" and you'd be right.
Its basically to replace my Line 6 Guitarport in the PC because its beyond repair but if I can get a couple of decent live sounds out of it I might pick up a guitar and plug straight into the PA because I'm fed up of not playing guitar for the last six years. Its an absolute doddle to program - dial in the amp, turn up the gain, add a bit of reverb and off you go. Quite impressed with it but we'll see if its capable live.

I've just sold my POD v2 to my 72 year old Dad who has recently acquired the Line 6 Variax 300. For those that don't know the Variax has got presets of the most famous 30 guitar sounds in history however all he's been doing is putting the guitar into a clean channel on his mixer and turning the dials on the guitar which did nothing except change the tone. I've just spent a pleasurable couple of hours dialling in a guitar preset and matching it up with an amp on the POD. Some of the results were amazing and I've just got to get me a Variax now.

I'm going to a Line6 roadshow tomorrow and one of these is being raffled. Here's hoping eh!

Congratz dm, nice purchase what's the difference between that version and the live version?

Wouldn't mind hearing more about this? Obviously you've played with a fair few toys in your time... How's this compare for the money?

Theres a lot more in the live version and extra tweaks.
This has been made for the complete novice and couldn't be easier to setup.

Choose the amp you want (12 to choose) and turn up the Drive (Gain) until you get the distortion or non distortion you want.
Then you can mess with the bass and treble and set the channel volume.
All these are seperate knobs BTW.
The effects section is quite different and very easy to use.
The MOD knob has got 3 effects on it (Flange, Phase and Trem). You turn it on and the Flange LED lights up and if you keep turning and it increases the Flanger. Keep turning and you turn on the Phaser and once again you increase the amount of Flanger and then onto Tremelo.
The Delay/Verb knob does exactly the same with Delay, Sweep Echo and Reverb.
Its as though they've chose the best six effects and just given you the option to increase/decrease which makes things uncomplicated.

I can't say whether its better than the competition but it will do for me. This pedal comes alive when used in conjunction with a Variax and I can't wait for my Dad to go on his christmas holiday so I can have his Variax 300 here.

OMG DM I just fell off my chair! I remember a thread a while back where you argued me to the death about modellers (my Boss GT-8) - what has happened lol!!

I'm speechless!!

But if you also remember I saw a guy using a GT8 live and he'd spent months fine tuning it for stage work and the sounds were awesome.
I've always had multi-effects pedals (I've got about 4 in the house) but I've never been the main guitarist in a band and it still holds true that single pedals just seem to work immediately.
The Floorpod is to replace my ageing Guitarport and if I can get one decent heavy sound out of it then I may use it on stage for several numbers.

I've got my Dads Variax 300 over christmas while my Dad goes on holiday and I've just had the most pleasurable 2 hours messing with all the guitar sounds and the different amps on the Floorpod.
The Floorpod is quite clever - its as though when you switch amps its set at the optimum setting although you can twiddle with it.
I've now got to get myself a Variax but I'm looking higher up the scale than a Variax 300.
