Its a non MOT'd automatic estate with a million bits to go wrong which hasnt been serviced in ages.

Good luck with it, this will either be a great buy or a total disaster, lets hope its the former! :)

Yea i know lol but tax is worth £90 on its own and ive got a free mot with my new insureance company :D

fingers cross if its bad then its send the tax back to dvla get some money there and then put it on the bay :D

Erm they might pay for a free MOT test but generally speaking the reason why cars are sold without MOT's is becuase they are broken and repairing them to get through the MOT will cost more than the car is worth...

i know (sold a few in this way my self)

but for £200 am taking a chance can always get £100 - £250 in local paper

Your motoring story is a bit :(

You have an AX which gets a dent in the wing. Although economically a writeoff, it's still roadworthy and requires only a replacement indicator and the bumper re-fixing to the car. Then it can be driven. Instead, you insist it's been taken from you and can't be used and...

.... you replace it with an automatic Volvo with no MOT and a broken petrol guage.

:(

going to keep the AX as my town run around it needs new wing as well bumpers ok

so ill buy it back and keep it

Volvo is for shiping kids around in

petrol guage. nothing major these cars dont realy go worng and run and run and run and very safe

like i said above if its not worth doing it up ebay or local paper to sell it off i can get some money back from tax disk so all is not lost

You need one for camping? How does that work, thought you were buying out of necessity becaus your AX was "written off"......

bit off both we're going camping this year and was going to just buy a volvo use it for a week then sell it back off

but now i need to fix my ax and now ive seen how they fold i thought i would buy and keep it :D

Surely that will now mean you are going to be incurring the expenses of running two cars? This means 2 lots of insurance, 2 lots of tax?

Which is why this one is offered with no MOT

yep but easy job and will source one later today :D

and will keep the AX off the road for the min and send tax back ill till fix

yes will be paying out a bit but if its too much then ill wait untill ive got a few years no claims built up

Fox has echoed my sentiments exactly. I know what it's like to be utterly skint, but that just means you need to spend what little money you have wisely, and I'm not sure the Volvo fits into this category.

Still, I hope it all works out ok.

me too i've got a few mot so that helps if its the sender then thats about £10 gauge probs £15 then off couse any thing else lol

but ive been given a small loan to cover me while my insureance company sort things out so am hopfull all will be ok

Don't worry it'll be fine :)

If not at least its only £200. I worried like mad after buying my Jeep off ebay and even now I'm waiting for it to do something beyond ecomical repair on me (like running out of petrol :D )

As for an AX folding, I was first to a scene where an AX had been hit by a SAAB. The steering wheel was touching the roof and the drivers face.

yea thats kinda whats put me off the AX ive seen some very nasty crash's and even at low speed they fold

but was a nice car and cheep to run

but fingers crossed ive not even seen the car in the flesh yet saw pic thought go on then and clicked buy it now

I've never done this before never and i've always told people beware of ebay cars but reading it i think they want a quick sale and it gone asap

and i want it asap :D

Arh now you never said how many you had lol

yes volvo boot is about 3 foot high maybe a bit more am going off memory (old man had 3 on the past)

as for roof rack got one seating in my mum and dads garden beeen there for many years and will not root its ally and goes the lenth of the car

just to save you a bit of trouble with the fuel gauge.
the sender is integrated with the pickup pump in the tank. they wear out eventually, and you can't replace just the sender you need a whole new pump and sender unit which costs loads from volvo.
you can get one from a scrappy but chances are that will also be knackered, cos they all go bad after about 180k
it's possible to fix them yourself, but it's a bit of a faff. i just keep an eye on the trip meter, also my gauge works about 20% of the time, so i can get an idea of the fuel level every now and then.

if you want to know how to fix it look on this site.
