Just bought Borderlands 2 form OCUK and steam says code invalid!

Its definitely a steam code as the game is steamworks. Not to mention mine got delivered to my old address so got my dad to text me the serial so I could install it - worked fine! At the OP good luck, hope OCUK get it sorted!
 
If this is a boxed retail version. You need to contact Steam or the game developer directly.
More than likely someone has 'keygened' your code and is using it if you have tried all the possible codes.
Steam are usually good at sorting things out through their support, they will more than likely reset the code directly and email you another one. They may ask for proof of receipt and a photo of the box to prove that you are the real owner of the key.

Yeah I have contacted steam support seems a lot of hassle if I have to take a photo etc

It is a shame for those who have purchased genuine copies. I am sure they will sort it as soon as possible. Their ticket system is pretty good, and I have seen people get a quick turn around. Good luck! :)

Thanks 5UB hope you don't think I'm having a pop at you ;) just I was hopinG to have played this on friday but with it being delivered late and busy weekend then getting time to sit down and play then this:( I apreciate all the replies,help.

You aren't entering the code for the dlc by mistake are you? When you open the box there is a leaflet for the dlc with a code, but the code to auth the game is on the actual instruction book.

The reason I say this is that I tried entering the dlc code first, but realised my mistake. You will get an error from Steam if you do that before entering the code for the actual game.

Hi no its the one on the back of the manual for te game i have tried numerous attempts, triple checked.

:DgGet ready for your head to swell, amazingly putting caps on worked!
People might think thats obvious but it isn't as there codes only let you put in caps with caps lock on or off, i suppose this is to make it easier so we don't have to worry what case we are in. But it worked with caps on so i'm happy;) was there somewhere you read you had to do this?

Lol, glad it worked :)
I've always used caps when entering game codes, just like I always put the - in where it's supposed to go just in case. Sometimes you don't have to, other times you do but as the codes are always written in caps I like to use them to be sure.

Sorry but I disagree with that statement as when you put in the code it automatically puts it in capitals and the code itself looked exactly the same as the printed version all caps with spaces how was I suppose to know you had to have caps on? I have put codes in games pc,consoles for 15 years never had this problem before.
