well to be honest ive not been into photography very long, I bought myself a D80 with the standard 18-135mm AF-S DX kit len's which has been ok but after reading so much info on the net ect i decided to buy a new len's, well i have a few on my shoping list.

Now i guess what i would like to know is if anyone here has used this len's? my purchase is a Nikon 85mm F1.4 AF D it seems a very good len's but personal opinion's welcome!

I would like to add at a later date the 50mm F1.4 AF D and also a F2.8 zoom in the region of 50 to 200 which should just about cover everything i would want to shoot. might get a macro len's like the tamron AF-90mm 2.8 Di later.

so anyone have any experince with a D80 and the nikon 85mm F1.4 AF-D? and what are your opinion's please?

Cheers!

Matt

Nice, but I don't personally think either the 50 or 85 f/1.4s are worth the hefty price increases over their f/1.8 counterparts. Lovely if you can afford it though!

well the price diffrence is a lot i must agree, but its more than 1 f-stop. the build quality ect. but i did think about the f1.8 version but i do like low light shooting as we get some fantastic sunsets across the nature reserve at pagham harbour.

also low light shots at weding receptions, functions ect, so the 1.4f won it for me.

That gives you a 127mm when you take into account the FOV crop factor.
If your after some thing around that focal length then the 50mm will give you give you a FOV crop factor of 75mm.

My last buy was the 30mm F1.4, since i wanted some thing around 50mm mark.
Cracking lens, havent taken it off since i got it.

thanks for the replys guy's!

and an intresting thought on the 30mm f1.4

the 85mm being 127mm is what i wanted, a stand off portrait len's for low light. its mind bogling all the len's you can get.
