Just bought OVERCLOCKED* Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping (SLBEJ) 4.00GHz / Gigabyte EX58-UD5 Intel X58 Motherboard / Corsair 6GB DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz DDR3 Bundle. However, I have just run Core Temp to make sure every thing was working ok and Core Temp shows the processor frequency to be 2698.66MHz? I bought this so I would not have to fiddle around for days getting a stable overclock. Temps look ok, has anyone had one of these systems lately, been trying to get in touch with support all afternoon with no luck? Any help would be appriciated.

most systems arrive ok but 4 a selected few you will need the assistance of support and there is a dedicated thread 4 this. it sounds like a bios profile problem. chech ur bios profile to see what it says. :-)

Did you have anything running in the background? Sounds like speedstep slowing the CPU down to save power. Try running prime95 / IBT then opening up core temp and you should see it at full speed.

Yea, probably speedstep. If you have Prime95 or Intel Burn Test or some other stress testing program, try running that and see if it shoots up. Or you could start up a game and then just switch to the Core Temp window and see if its gone up while gaming.

Also, CPU-Z is a better tool for seeing cpu details. If you download that and take a shot we could definately tell you if speedstep is turned on, though it is the most likely cause

re:

Just boot up then go into the bios by pressing delete ,then press f12 and you will see the profiles and the one to pick is the ocUK profile.
I think you maybe having the cold boot issue like me and a few other where the system starts to boot and kicks back into the non overclocked profile which I normally get each morning.

Thanks Mrix that seems to have done the trick, running prim for a couple of hours to see how it goes. Temps at the moment are average 78/79 I dont know if this is high or not? Thanks again mate, seems a pity they don't put some info in the pack?

It's at the upper edge of what i would call an acceptable temp i would'nt be comfortable with it going over 80c whats your room temps?

room is warm don't know temps will check. No load temp is 39/40 100% load is like I said 79/80. What are the average temps for no load and full load on a 920 overclock?

you should have recieved a care pack?

we started to ship an info pack with every bundle, i cant understand why you didnt get one. if you want a digital version i can email it to you?

Yes please that would be most helpfull, email in trust. The only paperwork I received was the invoice I did not get the free Bullguard either??

Any chance of sending this again just change my email to my current one, Doh.

Still having trouble getting this chip below 80c under load!! I have reseated the cooler and used the instructions from the arctic silver site, still 80 to 81 when using prime95? I must admit when applying arctic silver I prefer spreading it myself using a credit card before applying the cooler, the old way as anyone else used this method lately?

Which cooler are you using?

If you only have 1 fan fitted to the heatsink, then these temps are perfectly normal mate, when I was using my old TRUE with 1 fan, my load temps were around 85c.

Noctua NH-U12P SE1366 CPU Cooler using both fans. I am also having trouble when the system goes into stand by mode, I can't get it to restart without switching it off then on again???

Yeah, there seems to be a problem with the UD5 and standby mode when you're overclocking, some of the newer beta BIOS'es are supposed to correct this issue, but I don't advise you to flash the BIOS as you will lose all your OcUK BIOS settings, and I think it would probably void your warranty as well, though I'm not 100% sure about that.

Have you tried loading optimized defaults in the BIOS and then testing standby mode to see if it still plays up??

This will put the CPU back to stock frequency, but if you try it, then you will know for sure if it is because your CPU is o/ced that standby isn't working properly.

Well I bought the overclock bundle so I would NOT have to start messing about going through all the settings and I have a few problems. 1 the system will not come out of standy/sleep mode. 2 It will not see the network connection, I have to unplug the network connector, then replug it into the other connector to get a internet connection, every time, some times it will not see the network and I have to restart the system?? Also the order should have come with a free copy of Bull Guard, which it did not.
