The map scaling is indeed off, but the map sizes are right.

They have taken maps and blown them up so that their relative sizes are correct. But this means details on the maps are not correctly sized, so you can't compare details on one map to those on another map.

So? If i claim my map covers an area of 100,000 square miles but that would make a house 2 miles across then that just means trying to compare map sizes is a complete waste of time. There is absolutely nothing correct about that link. Map size is irrelevant if the details within it don't line up.
